at least some people can still have a laugh. i played a knife only server a while back and never had so much fun, it was crazy! :p

Still there are still alot of people who are concerned with their stats and have a strop when things dont go their way

Well what I noticed from CS 1.6 is that there isn't many talking people keep their mouths shut and just play the damn game instead of talking about eachother's nail clippers.. And in CS 1.6 there was more Mic. Using and more cursing

I then went onto play BF2 after getting tired of 1942 and found that after a couple of months people had really lost their humour. So i went back to 1942 to see if it was different and it was. Nobody had a laugh anymore. It was really weird. I havent played 1942 for a long time now, due to my obssesion with BF2, but i've found that even after a loads of months now, people have gradually got more and more serious. Which brings me to my next point. I was playing a small time bacl, and i was having a fight with another sniper. We were fighting at the Gulf of oman hotel, and he pretty much resorted to pistols as he was rather close to me (fair enough). He has to have been the worst shot i had seen in a while now. He must have serisouly been tapping fire as quickly as his finger would go and hitting very rarely. I thought for a laugh i would run at him and try for a knife (I serisouly thought no-chance, but what the hell), so i weaved left and right and out of sheer luck, and yes, i will admit i was very lucky, i got in close enough and got him with my knife, he had already hit me a few times but at knife range, how the hell can you miss?

After he died i told him that he had witnessed a 'Humiliating Defeat'.

I even did a '=P' to show i was joking. Now back when i used to play 1942, if you said that, you would get the replying with 'Won't be so lucky this time' and they would get in a tank and pwn me or something like that. But instead, i got told to f*ck off and that i was a son of a bitc*. To my amazement, a few people on the server laughed a little at this, as did i.

Has anyone else found that people seem to have lost sense of humour in games? which to alot of people, including some of my friends and I, used to find to be one the main attraction of gaming.
I would have done the same thing. This isnt about joking nor sportsmanship. Your joke was inappropriate. Poor champ was probably a new guy trying his BEST to defeat you, the death from a knife came as a humiliation and that comment was uncalled for. Whatever the smileys you put in the end. I, in his place would have probably came over to your team, kinfe/revive you a few dozen times and post up a comment such as "what a rape, eh? :P:P:P:P:P".

Personally, Ive become good enough to get a fight back to most people, and I would have just capped you and teabagged you.

You have to make a difference, where to joke and how to joke.

The thing is, you can really joke when thers 64 players on the server and everyone is a stranger. This is just too big for these kind of familarizations.

Take CS or SWAT4 as an exaple. In SWAT4, people TYPE OUT sorry for team-**** they do! Teamkills, teamnades, whatever. Whenever someone logs in and sayis HI, most people respond. This is not beause the games are different, but because theres more people and what affects one, easily can be seen by others and affects others.

What happens between 2 snipers on BF2, especially when theres pressure involved and its intense, jokes need to be extra careful.

Needless to say Ive had my own share of "FVCK OFF!!!!111" after a good dogfight...

I tink bf2 is a bit more intense and there is way too much chatter in game for civil conversations such as in cs. Plus when you died in cs, you had to wait for the round to finish so you could have a good chat then.
I use the 'sorry' button if i inadvertently wound/kill a team member, and i usually forgive if someone tk's me, unless it was a lamo tk such as a kamikaze from some n00b pilot or whatever

Re: People lost their gaming humour?

BF2 is more seriouse because most people are worried about their stats I guess ...
The game I used to have the most fun with was probably MOH and its expansions ... used to have a really good laugh ... and had a good friendly rivalry with a lot of players ...

If you want to have those good laughing times back, come back to CS and DOD. My two best games.

BF2 is serious because its all based on stats, so people will do anything to get a couple of numbers on a website.

I agree with you that people aren't as humorous, but frankly, with or without a =P at the end of your comment, telling someone that you just humiliated them is pretty obnoxious and I am hardly surprised at the response you got.

Most of the servers i have been in ,the chat is non-existent apart from the occasional"your a ****in cheat" or "noob" other than that no.one really chats, probley to engrossed in the game.

Meh, its lame how none can laugh. I mean, me and Sephiroth play, some guy trys to take off, is ****, flys backwards and smashes into the side of the carrier. Me and Sephy give a simple "OLOLoloLLDsafsa" and they get so pissed off. Been banned for laughing at that same thing, but it was an admin. "Admin disrespect"

I agree, the fun factor is gone really (unless you play unranked like I do most of the time). To much arrogance and ego for there to be any "fun" involved. Blame the stats for all of it.

I remember back when your K/D was the important thing and the only Ego players had huge ratio's. Now a guy with 100k points thinks he's actually got that rank and everyone under him is somehow less than worthy. They therefore treat you that way in game and in the forums. Its a sad turn for online gaming. What are ya gonna do? I just kill them and go about my bussiness.
