People lost their gaming humour?

I used to play CS 1.6 when i was new to online gaming, then i found battlefield 1942 which pwn3d CS 1.6. I then went onto play BF2 after getting tired of 1942 and found that after a couple of months people had really lost their humour. So i went back to 1942 to see if it was different and it was. Nobody had a laugh anymore. It was really weird. I havent played 1942 for a long time now, due to my obssesion with BF2, but i've found that even after a loads of months now, people have gradually got more and more serious. Which brings me to my next point. I was playing a small time bacl, and i was having a fight with another sniper. We were fighting at the Gulf of oman hotel, and he pretty much resorted to pistols as he was rather close to me (fair enough). He has to have been the worst shot i had seen in a while now. He must have serisouly been tapping fire as quickly as his finger would go and hitting very rarely. I thought for a laugh i would run at him and try for a knife (I serisouly thought no-chance, but what the hell), so i weaved left and right and out of sheer luck, and yes, i will admit i was very lucky, i got in close enough and got him with my knife, he had already hit me a few times but at knife range, how the hell can you miss?

After he died i told him that he had witnessed a 'Humiliating Defeat'.

I even did a '=P' to show i was joking. Now back when i used to play 1942, if you said that, you would get the replying with 'Won't be so lucky this time' and they would get in a tank and pwn me or something like that. But instead, i got told to f*ck off and that i was a son of a bitc*. To my amazement, a few people on the server laughed a little at this, as did i.

Has anyone else found that people seem to have lost sense of humour in games? which to alot of people, including some of my friends and I, used to find to be one the main attraction of gaming.

I have noticed that quite a number of people have lost their Humor, but there are still those out there, who have humor. I was playing under my e[M]o.Dike Account ( just a muck around 1 ) and there was the sniper pinning down our sqaud i went around him and got in a great knife kill, and some tea-baggage. he went " haha YA DIKE " and i resonded " hehe :P " so dont despair there are still gamers out there how are still fun loving and easy going, but I understand where your coming from, i was shooting this guy with the AK-101 and he was sprinting so i was leading with my sights (so i would hit him) and ofcourse he went down, and hes like "OMG A I M B O T" like come on, its the AK-101 u dont need an aimbot for that gun to pwn, so yea some people do take their games a lil serouisly.... after all " its just a game " lol

Maybe if all the online servers were like the Sir mod.. Dammit..

BF2 needs more gamers like you and less like the kid who said you were cheating. Oh well, hopefully the good gaming days might come back for 2142 :P.

well, bf42 is more cartoonish by nature, the game was like a comic book version of ww2, which wasnt a bad thing if you just wanted to have some fun. i love the times when the guys on the server didnt take it too seriously, and there would be some of us fighting and some of us stunting, and some of us humping the ground. it was tons more fun instead of the "zomg serious point getting time" atmosphere of bf2.

Yeah i agree :P one of the funniest things i see through the sniper scope on BF2 now is the Jihad jeeping into like 5 people. Its so nooby but seeing makes me laugh for ages xD

I think that people are losing their humor as a reflection of the changing times. It used to be that people were good sports and laughed at humilating deaths or kills and kept on going. Everything has gone to the emergence of who has the largest ego and with that the loss of sportsmanship. Everyone has this idea in their mind that they are the next Jonathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel, who is known to be quite an arrogant fellow.

i like to joke around alot in chat......some ppl will laugh, and join in......while most either dont notice, or dont care.....

having fun in-game chat doesnt get them their precious points

I imagine that stat tracking has something to do with humor less players on most servers. I would poke fun at myself or others but you usually end up dead typing up a good remark.

I agree. I find it a useful rescource for how to improve, and find it extremly satisfying having Had a close friend as a victim, but thats about it :/

im a medic the most but the only 2 things that piss/aggrivate me are when im a sniper and i snipe a guy in the head like 5 times (and even see the little X and he still is running around then spots me ontop of a building and i get killed and when i look to see what he killed me with it says 92sfm or whatever the beretta is and when i go to revive someone and i hear the BZZT and i die and the guy isnt revived:hmm:
