Major Framerate issues

Hello. I have a fairly highend laptop (or what i consider high end) and my Battle Field 2 is running with a very low framrate. I've tried everything to setting all settings to low, to downloading new drivers for my videocard and i just can't seem to change a thing.

My system specs are:

XP Pro
Intel pentium 4 3.4 ghz ht
2 gig ram
Nvidia geforce 6800 go


Can someone please help?

I'm not exactly sure how to check the framrate, but it's low enough to seem very choppy to me.

Use fraps to record framerates or during the game press ~
and enter the following

renderer.drawFps 1

At what resolution are u playing?

Ok, i did what you said got an Fps of about 15-20. Now even i know thats not good.

What are the settings ur using right now and at what resolution
ex: Tex: med
AA: 4x
and so on

Everything is on low and i believe i'm using 800x600

this might not help, but possible could help lag or stuttering. have you tried defragging hd???

OK use this program and download the pro version from this link

after downloading it defrag and from the categories choose performance II and activate game boost and turn off AntiVirus and firewall and enter the game. Dont worry the program is 100% safe and my friend had a laptop with the following specs
XP home edition
Intel centrino 1.73 ghz ht
512 gig ram
Nvidia geforce 6200 go turbo Which far worse than yours and say what it worked perfect try it you will lose nothing

Yeah i just defragged (wasn't bad) and did the boost thing and still no improvement...It's so frustrating because this computer is capable of so much more than 15-20 fps

I forgot to mention that, first check for viruses, spywares and trojans they can
damage your system really bad. For Antivirus I recommend NOD32, the same friend with his laptop had 25 viruses and it eliminated it, secondly use antispyware and i recommend ewido (450 spyware were in his laptop) which you can find a free online scan at www.ewido.com, and for trojan go to F-secure website and download something called Black light root kit eliminator here is the link https://europe.f-secure.com/exclude/...ht/index.shtml
Then use the booster and try the game. TRUST ME ON softwares i am an expert.

Yeah, it's not that i don't trust you, it's that i've had Norton antivirus on my laptop since day 1. Even a hint of a virus, or trojan and that thing goes off. I've had a few things try to attack my system but were all deleted. About spyware, i've very clean about my system. I don't allow toolbar to install, i regularly go though add/remove hardware to delete any unwanted programs. I just don't get it. My framerate issuse doesn't start and stop with bf2 either, it effects all 3d i've tried to play.

I really dont know whats wrong. But since its not from bf2 you may check the video card it might be heating or something and use memtest to see if the ram is defected and download 91.33 beta drivers from the following link

By the way how many watts is the PSU?
