Personally I think if engineers wrench up a clay they should get to re-lay it somewhere else.

    Fair game IMO.

That said claymores are suuuuch easy kills, I almost feel bad when I put them down.

Exactly. It shouldn't require a whole squad to deal with one sniper who put a claymore in the middle of a stairwell that both teams use. For Sharqi, you can seal off the TV station flag with just two claymores, and if they want to get up there, unless they feel like hovercapping it in the heli, someone has to die. If it were a support soldier prone at the top of the stairs and he hosed you down with an LMG that would be different for many reasons, but to have a sniper just 'fire and forget' two claymores and therefore completely deny access to a flag is ridiculous. No way around it, no way to destroy it, so someone has to set it off or you can't get the flag. If it were a Spec Ops booby trapping a flag with C4, it would be totally different because not only would he have to pay attention to the flag going white, but he would have to still be alive to set them off. The only way to prevent the claymore from killing you is to find and kill the sniper, wait 30 seconds for the clays to disappear, and kill him again after he respawns (twice) to prevent him from either going back and picking up his old kit (so the clays don't disappear) or dropping new ones in the same place, because he can just march into the same area you are denied with impunity. I don't mind so much that the sniper gets a free cheap kill as much as I do how much it disrupts the flow and balance of the infantry game.

Claymores should be personal defense assets to cover a sniper's *** when he's sniping, not something to just toss about a friendly flag knowing that you can't possibly get a TK from it. FF-off clays are just another example of BF2 getting dumbed down. :hmm:

Not that I know of. It's still part of the Engineers job though, remove mines and explosives.

Sometimes when I'm going up a ladder and I see a clay I have a SM spawn me and go up first.

ya engi's can remove em on that very odd occasion that you can approach them from the back witch is pretty much never unless the sniper that placed the claymore is a complete newb wrangler

claymores have the 180 degree sensor and a mine you just roll over. the point is that in a heavily clayed area, you are pretty much stuck even with that ability. on top of that, why should the other six classes be stuck, it seriously screws up the gameflow. you dont spawn as a tank you spawn as a soldier. tanks are a battlefield asset and haveing an explosive "block" thier passage makes sence. soldiers arent battlefield assets and claymores are supposed to be booby traps.

its all very simple, claymores need to be destructable, or use an alternate triggering method like a clacker.

this is a bad idea imo. it does indeed promote claywhoring.
