I play at work ~30 hours a week sometimes. I do CAD for a living and I have a lot of down time. Ill play at home late at night, because Im a night owl and I dont watch TV.

Any idea what the number one complaint of adults is about their youth? Wasting time on useless shiat like this because you don't know any better, that's what.

60+ hours a week? That is, simply put, unhealthy and your parents should snap out of their oblivious stupor.

I think kid's shouldnt play like ton's of hours ,they should socialize and actually do something physical,BF2 is better for kids then just hanging out and getting into trouble though,at least the game makes them think somewhat, but if your a adult and you choose to play that much, whatever it is your choice

Wasting time on "useless" stuff is pretty much what youth is all about, thats what makes it so great.

I've been playing for 13 months, have 490 hours, and am 2nd lt. I know i sucked in the beginning of bf2 so i didn't get many points, but i don't play a lot. School is very busy most of the year and so is my bass playing which takes up a portion too.

Ok yes I have a high rank and yes I play a lot. Now how about my scenario.

                    1. I work from 10am till about 5-6pm ( writting video games for a living ).
                    2. I get home and have a bit to eat and then have a game until maybe 2-3am.
                    3. Should I get a life and a girlfriend...ermmm I already have a misses and kids....should I spend time with them...well no you see monday to friday I live away doing my job while my other half runs her bussiness..

So you see. I have a life at weekends with my family but I have a choice during the week either play bf2 at night, watch boring tv or go out and get drunk every night...yarn got bored of that after i hit 30's.

So once again dont judge everyone because you have such a small imagination to why people could possibly play a game for so many hours.

                    Who do you work for?

What about weekends? I've played 10 hours on one Saturday before...

Or for instance on Thursday's I only have Chemistry @ 8 in the morning, so I have lots of free time afterwards.

note: Don't you think WoW would be a bit worse? lol

Just to add to the math that is going on, you have to factor in that what is logged in the stats system seems to be only in-game time and does not factor in the map reloads and server reboots. I estimate that the play time recorded is only about 80-85% of the time you are in front of the computer during play. You have to multiply the game hours by 1.2 - 1.25 to get actual time.

I couldn't help it... I scroll through some of these forums and notice that some of you have these "hour tracker" signatures saying how much time you've devoted to BF2 this week/month/year. I noticed that many of you at 2nd LT and higher play 35+ hrs/week. You do realize that pracitically qualifies as a full-time job, right? Now I see how anyone gets to a level like 1LT. Perhaps if I quit my job and just played BF2 from 7:30-4:30 (w/ a 1 hour lunch) I could possibly make it to a level like yours... Wow... Don't you have anything else to do? I mean really... Lets consider 2 scenarios...

1.) You're young and go to school from 7:30-2-ish... that leaves 2:30-11-ish (8.5hrs) on weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday (12-15 hrs each). Thats a total of 60-70 free hours TOTAL per week. Assuming you have at least SOME homework (1 hr/day) and eat OCCASIONALLY (1.5 hrs/day) that leaves 42.5-52.5 free hours not eating/doing homework per 7 days. Dividing 35 by these numbers tells me that you devote between 66 and 82 percent of your free time playing BF2. DO YOU HAVE A LIFE??

2.) You are older and work for a living... You work a typical 9-hr shift w/ a 1-hr lunch. Lets just figure it's an 8-5 job. Assuming you don't work in a quickie before work, you can't really start playing until 5:30 at the earliest. Lets assume you go to bed by 12:30 am. That leaves 7 hrs/weekday and all day Sat and Sun. Thats a total of 60-70 total free hours. Lets assume that you eat and occasionally leave your house. For argument's sake, you eat 1.5 hrs/day and you spend at least 1 hour/day NOT playing BF2. That gives you the same scenario above...

                          My point?

If you're spending between 66 and 82 percent of your total free time playing BF2, I'm not that far off when you are sickeningly good in-game and I tell you to get a life/girlfriend/hobby (other than BF2) and you yell at me and say, "I go to school" or "I work for a living". Yeah... and other than play BF2, thats ALL you do... For your own good, please... socialize a bit... diversify your life just a tad... there's more to life than BF2.

Not a sermon... just a thought
                          LoL, Amen Brother.

Why give a monkey's nuts what other people do with their free time?
Personally when I was in my teens I spent most of my time playing sports, indulging in various hobbies etc. Computers were new, there wasn't the internet and I'm glad because I was extremely fit, healthy, and god damned good looking.. lol
In my twenties I was too busy studying, getting drunk and shagging loose women to play computer games. Now in my thirties with young kids etc I'm too knackered to do much else except play games when I've some spare time.

You cannot say these people don't have lives either... I still manage friends, and go to parties.... fact of the matter is with all this free time it is totally managable to play a ****load of BF2.

You can flame it or agree, but it wont sway me away from bf2 any time soon

I have only one question to all those who still play the game since the time it was released for many hours a day: don't you get bored playing the same game with the same maps over and over and over again? Don't you want to change at least game or a game type in your daily routine? In the end it is only a game. Look two feet to the either side of the monitor and you will see (not sure that realize) that the thing you were looking at for past few (or more) hours is only a flat digital device for displaying colorful dots. Nothing more.
I also wonder about those married people that wrote here that their wives say they play too much, but they don't care because it's THE Battlefield2. You have kids, you have wives. But you still play BF2 every evening. That only shows the distibution of priorities in your lives...
I, personally, had enough of this game a long time ago. To be more accurate - I got sick of it. Sick of playing online with super-dooper-professionals, getting killed 10 seconds after respawning. (Of course you might say that I'm a n00b but that's not true). As I will always say "I play to entertain myself, not to impair my health".
