going core 2 duo in your main rig will more than likely eliminate the need of another server pc.

BF2 will basically run graphics that look as good as your computer can handle, unless you have like 4 graphics cards and 4gb of ram.

Rainbow six vegas aint out yet, ghost recon advanced warfighter had really good graphics, but they sucked by the time it came out.

And art in a military sim? Surely you jest!

The only problem i have with BF2 graphics is that some textures like the M1A2 seem bland and a lot worse than others (namely the T-90 and BTR-90).

Mods fix this though.

Also, BF2 is basically as realistic as a fun online war game can be.

Want more realism? Get used to no health packs, and every single gun in the game incapacitates you with one shot, including pistols, and is accurate standing at 300 meters.

People at these forums have no concept of realism, yet they think calling BF2 arcade is a good idea.

didnt some 1 say server crashes are related with ppl logging on with the same ip....might be a problem there with all 9 comps..

HAHA that's exactly what I thought at first, a little creepy. However, it seems in my childhood I had those adults who would sit down and teach me things with computers and gaming, so in the end it's all good stuff. I will say though I better not get killed by 8 BF2 tags all having the same last name.

11) Not much. Fairly cheap. I'm guessing around $50, although this is just an estimate.

12) I beleive there is a Level Editor, but don't quote me.

13) Update that graphics card and yes. You could probably run it on Medium, but a better GPU would help. Definately not with all the eye-candy enabled.

actually i wouldn't upgrade your graphics card until you try the demo. that card will run it well enough to satisfy most people.

bf2 plays best on nvidia - but its really a coke vs. pepsi argument.

and there is indeed a level editor. it's tough to use though.

and a wireless router will run you about 40 bucks.

question for you: are you in the US? If so - which state?

indeed ati vs. nvidia is apples and oranges....however the best mid range card out in terms of price/performance will be the 7600gt. a ddr3 7300gt is no slouch either beating out 7600gs's in benchmarks but those aren't available in the u.s yet in fact I just saw a benchmark of the 7300gt DDR3 sli'd beating out a stock 7900gt. then again the x850xt's and x1600xt's are cheap and can handle bf2 on high given your hardware is up to date, in your case it looks good....your brand preference will be the deciding factor.

With the demo version you can get a taste of BF2. The latest versions are somewhat different to the original. 1.3 added coop mode. You can launch an unranked server and have all your pc's at home join and play against bots and you can also have people on the net join your server as well. Now you can somewhat emulate this with the demo version by launching a single player game and getting the other pc's to join using a multiplayer account and joining by IP. The pc's at home use the inside network IP and anyone you want to join on the net can join using your outside IP. You are limited to only 16 players and 16 player maps though you may be able to find a mod. If you go unranked you can then play the 32 and 64 player maps but no bots.

I recommend having a dedicated server though if you want to run 32 or 64 player maps.

You want all pc's to have 2 gig of RAM for the 32/64 player maps. A decent vid card as was suggested above your current vid card won't cut it for running high detail. A 7900GT would be the go for high detail.

On your question about spectating. There are 2 spectator modes, chase view or freecam. In chase view to can cycle through all the players and follow them around in 3 person view. Freecam you can fly around the map and view from any angle height etc.

BF2 also has Battle Recorder. Its tricky to setup but once you have it setup you can then record the games and play them back later on, I think you will be very interested in this aspect.
