If you want a game with good technical support and patches that dont screw everything up you came to the wrong place. but if you play on the unpatched version its entertaning unless someone starts bunny hopping and dolphin diving. if you didnt already know you only need the bf2 disk to install and start the game and once your logged in you can take out the disk and it wont affect your game. so you dont have to go buy 8 copies of the same game but it takes awhile to do but it saves you 280$.

          7 Boys - 21,21,16,11,8,6,5,
          1 Girl - 17
BTW My girl Sara runs the show around the family, I guess nobody messes with you when you have 7 brothers. It might seem a little creepy to some, but I have showed my kids how to Wrestle and Box since they were little rug rats, and so far they seem to have enjoyed it growing up. So I thought this would be a cool project to do, and personally I'm kinda dying to jump in and play. Thanks for everyone's help.

BTW Thanks for all the replies, I would have never been able to find out all this stuff on my own! To Consultant01, I think I like your idea on the room spread, it might be a little more organized with a square room. To Garabaldi, about your answer to my first question. To create this LAN sever I would have to have 8 computers for my kids, 1 computer for me, and 1 computer to act as a sever. Or can I just use my computer that I'm playing on as a server. 10 PC's is getting up there! Any help is great.

I would play America's Army if I was you, seems funner in LAN events, and it's free

I may be misinformed, so I'll let somebody else answer this.

But I now think it may be the case that you can run a LAN server form the same computer you're playing on.

If you wanted to run an unranked dedicated server that would be another story.

              9 computers - what's one more ?

i 100% recommend u download the battlefield 2 demo (its pretty much the samegame as the real one except u only get to play one map and it comes with online capabilities). u can read the patch readmes to see the changes from the demo to the game now

lol, try getting 9 people into one popular server and all getting on the same time...

I guess that's why bots would be good.

lol, weren't there 9 in the Fellowship of the Ring? you guys could call your 'clan' "The Fellowship" haha...nerds.

Re: Is Battlefield 2 the game I'm looking for?

bf2 is a nerfed down version of what you want to play. if you or any of your kids are really into games and like to get rewarded for accuracy, bf2 is NOT the game for you.

you will be more interested in armed assault www.armedassault.com, which is a newer version of operation flashpoint and will be more your style. it is currently late for release, est date was june/july, so anytime soon hopefully!!

download the bf2 demo though, but take extreme notice of the bad parts that will frustrate you. i.e spawnkilling happens far too often, useless guns, enemy can spot you no matter where you are every 30seconds and so on......

Re: Is Battlefield 2 the game I'm looking for?

                            1) Will BF2 let me create a LAN Party that only my and kids and I can play on, but also have the option of playing online with other people.
Yes, my friends and I love doing that, its a little more coordinated than playing online, like say my friends and I can do an all Jet battle without worrying about others joining in and ruining the fun, but you can still play online with others if you want.

                            2) What kind of setup will it take to have a LAN Party with 9 people?
Just buy 9 copies of BF2 and then create a Local game in BF2, make sure computers are all connected.

                            3) How many people can play on BF2 at one time?
64 maximum, unless you get some kind of mod that edits that.

                            4) Can I edit levels, map, characters, and movements on BF2?
Yea, but you would have to get someone to show you how, but it is possible to do it.

                            5) Are Bots on BF2?
                            Yes

                            6) Can me and my kids form a 9 person team and go against say 30 Bots on a LAN Party.
                            Yes, thru Co-op

                            7) Can I specter around and "referee" my kids without them seeing me.
                            Yes

                            8) Can I call in Air strikes and Artillery strikes on command, without actually having to be in a Plane or a Tank and physically press the fire button?
Someone has to be Commander to call Artillery Strike, but anything else like jets bombing have to be done from a jet.

                            9) What are the graphics like on BF2? 1-10, 1 being an early Counter Strike game and 10 being Rainbow Six: Vegas.
If you have a good computer maybe 8 or 9.

                            10) And finally, is BF2 like an MMO where I have to pay monthly for services or is it just pay for game, pay internet connection and have fun?
Buy the game and get the internet and online play is free.

btw, I have more fun playing Local games with friends than I do playing public online games

they will get bored of just playing against each other and will need more players...
