Easiest way for DICE to fix the J-10 imbalance

I'm sure by plenty of people have heard that DICE "cannot" balance the J-10 (it's too hard). Incase you haven't read the exact quote:

So we took a long hard look at this issue in relation to what we could try to do in 1.4.

We did some tuning to the J-10. Believe me or not most tuning we did actually made that lil sucker even more lethal (some people may have seen a server named 'J-10 Test' up within the last few weeks). Which brought us to the realization that if we were to do anything drastic to the J-10 it would likley ruin the vehicle unless we spent weeks in review and retuning.

We then reviewed what would be required to adjust the F35. The work and tuning and adjustment that would be required to try and bring the F35 up was roughly equal given the dual function of the F35 engine. I also received a crash course (har har) on hit box construction which helped me realize that this also would not be a simple adjustment and would also require weeks of adjustment and trial-and-error.

Long story short - This dynamic will not be changing in 1.4.

So we've established DICE is having a hard time creating a solution but sadly they've always had the easiest solution right at their finger tips but choose to ignore it.

Revert air to air missiles (ONLY AIR TO AIR MISSILES!) to the 1.12 patch settings. This isn't some revolutionary concept. I've mentioned it before as so have countless other people. You've already done all the work for yourself DICE. The 1.12 missiles allowed for pretty decent balance between all aircraft and didn't make the air to air missile the almightly "I win button". The F-35B could evade the missile yet you could still hit the J-10 with them. Another benefit is it encourages pilots to use cannons in combination with the air to air missiles rather than just spamming the "never miss" missiles. Best part is it's just so damn simple. It's pretty much a no brainer DICE.

Is it the best solution? No.

Is it the easiest solution? Yes.

Can DICE implement it in about 10 seconds flat? Yes.

Will the J-10 still be the best plane? Yes.

Will it still be grossly overpowered undefeatable air superiority vehicle that is currently in 1.3? No.

Is reverting 1.12 A2A missile handling better than doing nothing because it's "too hard". Hell yes.

As far as I'm concerned with DICE Canada for them this is the way to go and while it might not be the perfect solution it will still get my stamp of approval for a valid agreeable alternative to a complete rework of the whole air to air missiles system and airplane handling characteristics.

      It's a miracle.

Me and Chris finally agree on aircraft balance. Now I know beyond a shadow of a doubt this is the way to go.

      Make it happen DICE.

Please do us all a favor (aviators and suffering USMC infantry on Wake 2007) and don't leave air to air balance and combat in its dilapidated state. It's bad for the players and more importantly for you is that it's bad for your bottom line.

The more and more I think of this, the more I realise they SHOULD do this..

        Think of it..

No longer will the choppers have to worry about those J-10's that unload all 6 missles while going 300 mph...

There won't be any more "lock, shoot, forget" going from the J-10, to the JSF.

The J-10 will still be the best jet, but it will be a lot more balanced... Similar to the JSF/Mig...

IMO .... I really just think they should just do SOMETHING... anything... and INCLUDE IT INTO THE DAMN BETA!

What do they think the BETA is for!? If they don't have enough experience with jets....why... would they make it so that we can't test it? The opinions coming from the public would be very obvious... either you would have everyone saying "Wow DICE you fvcked up big time..." or just the occasional people saying they don't like it..

Right now, most people are just giving up on the BF series all together, and I am pretty much done.

I have been saying make A2A 1.12, and keep the current SAM's...for the longest time.

Sure there are negatives to it... but hey... it is the EASIEST thing to implement, and you already know it will be more balanced than it is now... so what the hell?

Well, maybe not 10 seconds but how long could it take to copy/paste a tiny bit of old 1.12 code over the flawed 1.3 code?

I agree that this is the easiest method that will bring immediate result in the form of less complaining and people accepting it, because apart from people needing to do a lot more work for their kills, they also have more fun with not being killed without contest (F35B).

Is this the BEST method? No. Is this the fastest method that brings positive results that makes people happy(ier), absolutely.

              Revert it.

                agreed

as a bonus - fix the essex missiles. they forgot to change them to the proper AA and they now miss almost all the time

in an enviroment, where programmers work on anonymous bits of code that they dont know part of what they are it isnt as easy as you, obviously not enterpise level programmer, think. big projects = lots of work OTHER than coding = lots of time

and as it is the EA, the man who wrote the AA code for the demo probably works somewhere else now, so all changes are made by people that dont know about code more than it is in the docs. and docs are not written by hand these days, they are autogenerated and in most times - sux. badly. so no 10 secs..

I've always said A2A missiles shouldn't have changed. I agree with PlaneWhore's arguement and hope EA/DICE can too at the least. I'm sick of this ****ing crap.

Ok one thing, im just wondering if this solution is good:

Every Jet in the game is different, therefore people wouldn't want the F35 and the J10 the same. So what if you made all the missiles and hit boxes the same? then the plane still has its ability that differentiates itself from other Jets.

i also agree with planewhore quick fix idea.

im no expert aviator but even me in a j10 can go most of the round with out being shot down (1.3)

after all this fix has been ask for,for a long time now i have read many fix j10 issuses.

reverting back to 1.12 a2a sound a fair option to me.

still makes flying that little bit more skillfull, but aleast it give other jets a fighting chance againts a j10.

i dont think its fair that dice say its to hard ect, with out considering other forms of balance like planewhore as come up with.

which in all fairness seems a quick step in the right direction imo.

You know this is somewhat strange. So you have DICE who seem to be incompetent of fixing something, they could have just suggested what they could have done to the community to make themself look better. But instead they are now getting solutions from the community and from someone by the name of ''PlaneWhore''. Company comes along, ''how do you resolve issues in your games DICE, fixing issues, imbalances etc'' DICE say ''Well theres this one guy called PlaneWhore who said that would be a fast way to fix it''.

I've never actually seen something like this, its like they should be paying the community for the services of solutions and suggestions.

DICE, release maps or let the modders maps be tested and verified as legit and put on ranked. There is enough maps yeah, but nothing wrong with releasing a map to the community every now and then, like once a month. Remember most of your customers will be the ones looking into buying 2142. This is your motive from now on.

Support the Game. Support the Community.

The only bad thing... which.. would make everyone start b*tching all over again...

Instead of a 1-way rape fest on the carrier/airfield, now BOTH sides will just ignore eachother, and go on with their business... That is the whole reason why they went with better A2A I think, and fvcked it up big time.

Tho Planewhore's idea sounds nice there is now way that dice can make it happen because the A2A and G2A missiles are the same, and if they can't figure out how to balance a plane I don't think they will createn a new missile just for that.
