It never was any fun.

Its created a new form of online gaming annoyance in stat padding. Most games I play on appear to have the majority of people running around aimlessly looking for points and not enjoying the team game.

That is what 95% of the BF2 community failed to realize. I learn that in the first week I got this game, and found myself a nice BF2 community that I am financially supporting now to spent my time on some solid teamplay every game.

The thing is, the stat whores are EA's ideal customers and bascially the stat system is the exactly that promotes that. Its sole purpose is to get you hooked as fast as possible so you will keep playing it, but short enough that you will get bored and move on to whatever they will sell you next. BF2142 is a prime example of that. I mean, they first nickle and dime you with BF2 booster packs and right after that they came out with a new game so that they can nickle and dime you again, again.

LOL. Try to look beyond the stats and points and find out what really make this a fun game for you.

Oh yeah! I remember that!

But the slow assaults, where forces were built up and then massively attacked, that pwned.
And then you had the bunker on top of the mountain where you could go to and look at the battle below you from a safe distance, maybe snipe or use a stinger or two/

If your sick of the style of play in pub servers join a tourny. It makes it alot more enjoyalble gaming experience. No stats, just teamwork and the Mods even out the play.

BF2 is starting to die on me because the maps are getting old. The mod community is looking better and then, the groups like Tour of Duty and 21CW might keep my intrest.

I think for me, it happened when I finally got to Sergeant Major, got all my unlocks, and had my little star, that I felt, well their is nothing more for me to do. Then with a couple little spats about what ROE can/intends to do, I felt, man, I am not sure it this is all for me.

I really expected more from BF2, but when the game was released, it felt really limited. Small maps 64 player, weak graphics compared to other games before already coming to market, and then full of minor annoying bugs.

I think I will get 2142 for one reason only, not the rank system, but because there are going to be some GREAT mods that might show up for it, hopefully a Complete Vanilla BF2 conversion mod.

Ranked servers arent completely losing there fun, but I do kno what u mean. I find myself playing on Sandbox more often.

I bought EF/AF to bring some more life into it, but it still is not going it completely for me. I think it might help if I were in a clan, or there were a lot more challenges to overcome.

Welcome to the real world of gaming now you can finally have some fun playing BF2.

That's my take on it too.

I also have 250 hours but with "only" (a reletive term) 18,000 GPs. The only thing I've ever "played" for was the basic pistol badge. What ever other awards have come, have come through what I consider the normal course of play, trying to win as a decent teammate.

I'm still finding new ways to get places. Better ways to lead a squad and stay alive. Relating to the commander and what he wants done. Finding alternate routes less traveled from one spot to another (staying hidden from jets and helos). Figuring the best use of the mines given to protect a certain area if I'm alone, not simply how many times I can kill a tank with an ATmine. Defending TV station, best way, least people, most effective. Taking TV station. And I'm not talking some disfunctional server with mostly lone wolfs, I'm talking taking it, when it doesn't want to be given up.

I'm still finding freinds and getting them on my buddy list. Finding servers I like more then others for my style of play.

Christ there's too much to list.

If ever get bored of these things, then I'll go for the stats, even then I might not.

Personally I think you might have burnt yourself out on the least rewarding things about BF2. Should have done it backwards and gone for points, medals, and badges after you did the things I mentioned.

You're basing this on the assumption that 2142 will be somehow devoid of the bugs that plague BF2.

Also this reminds me of the talks of a Interstate 76 mod for Interstate 82, both of which are considered broken games. lol.

I dont play on ranked severs, the quality of play is generally lower as everyone is generally playing for there own gain instead of working as a team

I wish joint ops was still around. I had more fun in that game overall compared to BF2. 150 people pwned. 150 people in BF2 would be awesome... i'm done now.

It is still around, there are several hundred servers up nightly.

So is BHD.

Ive been spending time in a "Good" BF1942 server these days.

BF2 aint done yet. Take a break, wait for patch 1.4 and see what happens.
