In short, don't you dar just stand around in an FPS game 'tards.
You're a good front line guy. I suck at front line combat compared to you. I'll take the 'tard' title and wait for an APC. If there's none around and I know I'll be waiting long then I'll go spec ops to blow up their $hit. but if I know the wait is standard spawn up time I'll stay there.

when i heli whore, i like to pilot, and i have a regular gunner that i usually squad with when doing so.....if someone else jumps in, ill say get out until the heli picks up off the ground, if he hasnt gotten out by then, fine......if they do get out, i thank them, and do the same if they ask.....also, if we just died, and two guys are waiting, we'll let them have a go..or steal the enemy heli for them.....

I understand your intent here and it would admittedly remove some of the discussions about who gets a specific vehicle.

But I have to disagree with this solution: you already see an overwhelmingly high amount of smacktarding, purely motivated by stats. This would only make it worse.

I also dislike the notion of rank giving you privileges over others. Someone who just now bought BF2 will never be able to be commander. New players would never be able to use vehicles all of a sudden, either.

The BF2 rank system is a very very inferior design. It's a simple accumulation of in-game time and not a reflection of skill, nor is it a badge of "honor" since it doesn't promote good teamplay. Therefore it should not come with any kind of in-game privileges.

          Cheers :-)

My friend and I always squad up and try to use a common tag so that people know that we are together and are taking the chopper up as a VOIP team. If TWO players show up at the helipad, and one of us doesn't get into the chopper and one of us does, we'll jump out and let the other 2 have it. If there is only ONE other guy waiting at the helipad and one of us gets in, we'll politely ask in chat that the other guy get out (while using the bail out command) and explain that we're a 2 man VOIP team. If he were to bring another player along, we'd gladly let them have the chopper for a sortie.
I shared the helo on 260 Pimpshack the other day. While I waited for my mate in the MEC attack heli on Oman, I saw Talus and his buddy waiting for their turn. Since my buddy wasn't there, I got out and let them two go for a sortie, since I knew they were a pair.

Pimpshack does enforce the first come, first served rule as Sn][per Eli mentioned. It does make for a better chance of not being TK'd for aircraft. Does not mean cut out completely, you'll always have smacktards doing it just to do it.

I am a subpar jet pilot and I love to fly and do my best whenever possible to help the team... the only time that I do take the jet is when the jet has been sitting there for a while and no one seems interested enough to take it.... I will always let other far more superior pilots take it ahead of me for the sake of the team because of the importance of air support.......I'm not bad at air to air combat, but suck at ground support (which makes a huge difference in game)

I love it when no one is around, I jump in the jet, fire up the afterburners, and some idiot flys up in a jeep and smashes into me halfway down the runway, I get punished for a teamkill, and then he asks admin to kick me for tking...........nice

I often like to piss off the TKrs by being a medic on the airfield. It doesn't happen often, but from time to time you can have a lot of fun reviving the lost souls. And after revive its often revenge time and I get more work. I just hope that some day someone doesn't accuse me of statspadding or whatever else. Often in the beginning i despise the frantic race to take the flags and stay back and see where help is needed.

Ur rant is exactly why I don't fly much anymore. Logged a lot of time with helos early on, just got tired of having a good run and coming back to the pad to find 4 guys sitting there, 3 of them with M95's, all wanting a piece of the action.

I can fly pretty damn good, can gun just as well, but fighting for a vehicle is a waste of time...I'd rather go infantry.

Even though I hate the practice, forcing a TK and punishing has its merits in circumstances like that

yes take screenshots, submit to server forum, and request a temporary ban of a week. if all servers adapt this kind of policy, this problem would quickly disappear.

I'm having a difficult time acquiring the helicopter ribbons. It is crazy attempting to get 15 minutes/round in a helicopter with so many teammates eager to hop in them.

chopers work best with two freinds who work well together. However I have on many occasions left my bro behind or let him go becasue someone else wanted their turn or got in before one of us. With people like this i say f-it and c4 the chopper....
