Spotting targets

Another thing that needs to be fixed is the spotting of targets.
Often you cleary see a tank or something else approach and you want to make your teammates aware of it by spotting it. But then instead of "Enemy tank inbound" all you get is "Enemy activity" and a blinking question mark on the map. Very annoying ... This is in most cases no problem with airplanes or helicopters.
I think the game uses some kind of "spotting ray" which is shot into the game world, and when it hits a hostile unit, that one is marked on the map. But it seems that the spotting ray often doesn't reach its target.
Please fix this, EA!

I'd say that most of the time I spot what I see and 1 in 10 or so I'll just get the question mark. If I re-spot I usually take it slower and get it right the second time.

i only get the Enemy Activity when a spot thing air or a building :)

Maybe, but there definitely are some situations where you see a target but you can't spot it, no matter where you aim while spotting. This is annoying and produces a lot of radio spam.

Sometimes when you see something far away, you're not able to spot it. Really annoying

hmm ive experianced this too.., i was wondering if the "spotting ray" (lol) had a distance limitation? but then ive tried spotting using the L9 sniper rife and its very sporadic but i usually get the annoying question mark instead of what im actually spotting.

Also ive noticed other people spotting stuff and it sounds like they got it on target by saying "enemy tank inbound" ...., but it doesnt show on the map :|:

If you press Q and select from the list with the RIGHT mouse button you can place the red icon for the corresponsing enemy just about anywhere.

yeh thats true if your initial spot was off target but ive noticed that sometimes if i try to do this at a distance ie: 200yds+ then it puts the icon in silly places like 10yds infront of me or something equally as stupid.

What I try to do as a sniper is wait until I get a tag, that usually works.

The only problem with this is the spot does not follow the enemy around and move when they move, it is static.

I have found the key to good spotting is to align the taget as much as possible to the middle of the spot circle.

Most of the time when you get the question mark there is something that is closer in the spotting circle... a hill or top of a building something that is A closer or B taking more space in the spotting circle then your intended target.

Spotting isn't a science as far as I can see, I have to respot things all the time.

it is really anoying when u have a squad of at soldiers u see a tank and it wont spot it.
