What have EA done to BF2? This is the question I was asking myself tonight when I installed BF2 v1.00, the original BF2 and found a pretty sweet unranked server. It was bloody amazing. I had some of....no infact the best rounds I have ever played.

Ok, firstly I had no lag AT ALL. I used to believe lag was caused by other players having a high ping...WRONG. In the unranked server there about 10 players with around 250 ping, 3 with 300 ping, 1 silly dude with about 450 ping and quite afew over 100 ping and I still experienced no lag at all. I was flying planes with no lag and the video ran smoother than it ever did in any ranked servers. I'm guessing the patches are very badly coded.

Next, there were no smacktards playing. No hackers at all and pretty much everyone played by the rules. It was all maps rotation. I played for 2/3 hours and I didn't play a single city map. Everyone worked as part of the team. I had medics running 80m+ to save me when I died.

The only reason I would ever play a ranked server would be to get more unlocks, but considering I already have the ones I need, you'll probably not find me in one ever again.

Seriously though, if your bored with BF2, install the original and get into some unranked servers. You'll be pleasantly surprised, if not shocked with how much better the gameplay is.

Well, good for you but I rather prefer playing BF2 knowing my progress will be rewarded with medals and badges. Joining clans will help you out with teamplay if that's what you're looking for in a game. As for high ping, I agree, it has no bearing in slowing down the game, only those player with high ping suffers but not the entire players with good pings. I have experienced it my self. Usually, lags are encountered if you are way too far from the server and your ping is sky-hi.

Pathes has advantages in correcting the bugs but also has the potential to screw-up like the ver. 1.3 (frequent server crash)!

what exactly do medals and badges get you? 2 inches on e-peen? I played ranked to get a few unlocks then I switched to unranked. No tk'ers and no hackers. just a bunch of guys playing together, trying to win. hackers are less likely to go into unranked servers w/punkbuster on as they are taking a huge risk for nothing.

Anybody who gets off by receiving an award for sitting in a tank is a moron. From the beginning I knew stats/ranks were a bad idea. It seems to keep the middle bulk of people playing this game even after all the crappy support.

btw: i dont play unranked unless its a mod. or trying a custom map

Ranks are fun. It gives you a goal to work towards.

However, I'm not really concerned with my rank anymore, as long as I have all the unlocks I wanted, I'm cool.

I would always be laggy the first few rounds after joining a ranked server. Even with my extremely low ping and very few others having a high ping I would always experience a degree of lag. I would be lucky if I wasn't disconnected before the end of a round. I didn't experience any lag AT ALL whilst on the unranked server and everyone had really high pings.

I'll admitt the original has some bugs, but you don't really notice them that often because there are no smacktards ruining the game for everyone. Players don't make it their goal to rape the wake carrier 24/7 etc etc players just want to play and have fun.

It will be PB, EA, and Dice's fault. If they continue to allow players to hack, company's to sell hacks, the good player base will leave.

Although you will still have the L33+ retards still playing. Most self respecting gamers will stay away from this BS.

I agree that the ranks and stats are useless *as they stand currently. Stats should include the amount of each vehicle you killed and a list of everyone you killed + how many times. It's kinda pointless to base everything on the amount of time you've been doing this or that. Bottom line is, stats require time, not so much skill. Plus most of the badges cause assholes to magically appear.

On the other hand, I like one thing about the badges: Some of them are actually difficult to obtain. Of course this has been changed recently, degrading the entire thing. I like a challenge; they should have badges that are theoretically impossible.

I might just join in for some jump and shoot sometime.

Battlefield 2 is far from dead, Theres plenty of mature gamers who want to win in ranked servers, such as myself..the problem is theres alot of kiddies as well who run infront of jets tk for choppers and serious point whores, dont get me wrong i love the stats they make this already fun game even better but when you start caring only about stats and not about fun and game play then your ruin everybody elses game experience aswell as your own...

When a few mature good gamers get in a squad and work together as a team then you have a great game and thats what bf2 is all about.

bf2 is the best game i have played. I dont have CTDs anymore, and the truth is as long as i have my server, there will be a place to play bf2.

There really is no point in the ranks system. You have to be pretty stupid to think they actually mean anything. A good player is a good player whether or not he has those extra stripes or not.

I do see the point in stats. It is interesting to see how well you perform in certain situations over a period, however players still hack to improve their stats.

I have played countless hours in ranked servers and every single time I play I always encounter players who abuse the system. From players breaking rules, admin abusing their power to full blown hackers camping it up for the points. Your constantly struggling with these things whilst trying to play your game and have fun.

If your bored of the game, try the unranked servers. You'll find few smacktards and players actually work as a team and go for the win. Even better, install the original and enjoy a much faster gameplay experience and more enjoyable one too.

Ranked servers are for getting unlocks. Once you get the unlocks play unranked.
