    Commander spam..

How do you guys feel about the commander being able to spam non-stop on the radio. From enemy spotted, to "Negatory." I understand the reason behind the unlimited talk by commander, but shouldn't there at least be an option to turn it off.

Disclaimer: The purpose of this thread is not to find solutions to commander spam, but to find your opinion of commander spam.

    Re: Commander spam..

Well when im commander I usually get someone on my team whining at me to stop spotting, because when im commander, I spot any enemy, if an enemy gets through the net, I spot them until they are terminated :).

Yayy, so far im the only one that selected love it. It seriosuly helps though, in most cases when there are squads flanking the main fighting area to take main flags.

hate it. one of the reasons i rarely spot while commander because it typically needs to be said a number of times for the message to get across. that and i know that many people feel the same way i do.

Doesn't bother me, unless you have some commander being a prick. I find the commander enemy spotted messages helpful for taking out the enemy.

its one of the most anoying things in this game, it will be so nice when POE2 comes out, its admin tool will give the option to limit radio spam, i cant belive bf2cc doesnt have this now.

Now that I have started playing commander, I have a new understanding and appreciation of this so called "commander spam." Getting that red dot on the minimap is vital in a number of circumstances (all of which are only valid if the UAV is unavailable or is needed elsewhere): an enemy is hiding near a newly captured flag, an enemy is in a secluded spot (like lying prone around a corner) that is enabling him to kill all that unknowingly come his way, a lone enemy that is coming to capture an unguarded flag, etc.

I know you wanted this not to be a solution thread, but without discussing the root cause of the annoyance, then this is nothing but an ignorant whine thread--ignorant in that you apparently don't understand the reason behind his constant "enemy spotted" barks. In short, there is nothing special about the commander's spam in that it is no more or less annoying than all the other spam in the game. The solution, I think, is not necessarily the option to mute it, but rather some sort of proximity check. That's all. Just like why do I need to hear, "Ammo! Here!" when I'm all the way across the map?

First off, the first two reasons to spot an enemy, that you name, are valid, but the last one really pisses me off. There is no one near the flag a lone troop is capping it, yet the commander will spam him over and over. Solution give a squad leader an order, and when someone gets near the flag then spot him.

Second, I just wanted opinions on the commander spam situtaion, whether or not it bothers you. Check the pole.

Third, there is something special about the commanders spam, he can do it to his little hearts content without getting the "stop yacking and get off this net" time of blockage. Which can let some kid spam "negatory"/"I read you" infinetly till he is successfully mutinied.

Last, I agree the "ammo hear"/"need first aid" can be annoying but that is not the purpose of this thread. Also, these are not persay "radio" commands.

yeah agreed i think that commanderspam only benifits the commanders score and not all that much else.

No, the reasoning behind it is that team mates die every second, so if you spot an enemy long before he can neutralize a flag, someone will spawn in at the threatened flag and defend it. In my experience, this has had a much higher success rate than asking one of my "I Own the Battlefield So Don't Tell Me What To Do" squad leaders to go to the flag. Sad, but true.

Also, most commanders are not spotting the same enemy over and over again contrary to your belief. They are spotting all the enemies of an enemy squad.

Yes, I know, hence my second paragraph. I guess you are just admitting that this is nothing more than a whine thread, and therefore, I move that it be locked. :p

It's very rare that that happens. But even when it does, discounting the occassional idiot commander, you need to think is terms of his literal viewpoint. You are standing in a single spot, so when you hear fifteen "Enemy Spotted" barks in a row, you should take into account that these spots are undoubtedly located all across the map, and each are given as a warning to different squads, all of whom are probably no where near you.

See that's the beauty of it, not everyone is going to whine; and those that are in favor will post why they like the spam, such as yourself. Its like asking "How do you like them apples?" Some might like them, and you might whine about them.

I hate how they have to spot the same enemy every second when it's still on the map or when there an UAV up. lol some commanders in SF just hit random things because to laugh at the SAS accent. When I play commander when doing spotted I only put it up there twice or until it goes off the map to put it up again.
