3. Also they should add 'Supply-line' ranked map option (you can only take flags in a certain order - the flag available to take would be highlighted in your HUD like a wounded soldier, except semi-transparent grey)

Hopefully IO-MODE can be adjusted for certain maps like Strike at Karkand & Mastuur. Those are the only 2 maps which IO mode is needed.but other maps would be fun trying them out. Like a rotation IO-mode off then on for the same map. Now that would be alot better, than to just have IO-OFF only

BF:1942,BF:V,BF2 all have vehicals and infantry in the game thats what made them so popular and had a fan base waiting for the new games. If you die from a tank more than an infantry then well that doesnt mean they shoud take out the tanks. Its just something the infantry only players will have to get used to that they cant stay alive all the time becuase sooner or later you will run into a tank or heli and die there is nothing you can do about it so you need to try and hide and if you cant well the your dead its something you have to deal with. IO mode will I think make this game easier. Because you only have to worry about infantry and not vehicals witch I think is just EA giveing into the complaints of the players that dont know how to just deal with things. If a tank is spawn camping Hotel and you die, spawn as AT and make an attept to kill him. The reason this game is popular and good is becuase of the veriety of the game. Like on CS:S you know whats gonna happen because you know were people hide and where they will go. But on BF2 you have to watch out for tanks,jets and much more. Witch I think make it more fun.
I got 581 hours on this game and about 100 of those hours are in a jet. And yes I can go 40 kills and 0 deaths once in a while. And its fun to be in the jet and bomb bases my team is about to attack and kill tanks , jets and helicopter. But I also play on the ground alot and I die from tanks jets and others to but I dont get mad an want them to take them out. If the enimies jet is dominating then ill get in our jet and try and stop him. And if I cant well then I tried. I dint just sit back and get into the tanks agian and agian and agian geting bombed by the jet and call him a plane whore (and by the way I think is stupid to call them plane whores and tanks whores its just stupid). Isnt this game all about veriety of runing around maybe take down 2 guys then jump into a tank kill acouple of guys and fight another tank then jump out and grab a jet and fly around. Well its up to you if you want to stick to one thing. Every thing has a weakness. Like if all you play is medic and there is a tanks at you flag trying to cap it you cant do anything but if you die and come back as AT will you know where to hit him? And kill him with out geting killed your self?
EA and Dice are like parents who dont like there kids whine(people who want vehicals out of the game) so they give in to there kids crying evn though they can learn to deal with it or learn how to adapt and play deiffently. And IO mode will not make it so there is more team work all its gonna be is people runing around just like it is now but they dont have to worry about vehicals. BF2 has more team work then IO, because say you need you jet pilot to kill the helicopter that is kill you guys so he does or bombs a tank that trying to cap a flag. And much more it might not be comunicated but its there.
I hope you guys understand what im saying. Im not the best at getting my point accross by typeing it. Im sure you will get the idea. And I agree with Wolfgang and PlaneWhore.

All I have to say is you do not have to play IO. There is different types of players in BF2, so live with it and move on. There will be plenty servers for you vehicle boys

Ok, let’s look at this scenario:
People from other games, CS and the like, learn about a game “just like” theirs, but with bigger maps: BF2 IO mode. So they are willing to give it a try.
They like it so much that lots of them are starting to play vanilla too, just out of curiosity. Some of those will like vehicles more, as the new toys are so powerful and so nice to control.
And there you have it; more people will come, enlarging BF2 community.
Is this so unlikely? Is this a bad thing in the long run?

Quick question:

Im only new to BF2. I just got the game after playing the demo for a while. I, like many others here, really enjoy playing as infantry and id love to get into the IO games that youre talking about.

So how do i do it? Do i just have to join an IO server or is there a patch or something i have to download? Ive installed the 1.3 patch so far but that it.

Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers.

IO will be a server option when the next patch comes out

No problem. I have mixed feelings about IO servers however, for some maps its a good thing and for other its a bad thing, but only time will tell

I honestly don't see the big deal. If you don't like the idea of IO, then don't play on IO servers. It's that simple.

Says it all. It's another option so deal with it and move on. I just do not see the arguement those who are complaining about it are putting forward when the above is a fact. The only way I can perhaps see it is if I assume that deep down they are worried about stats or losing their easy kills in vehicles and as we know assumptions are never correct and forum writings are gospel.

I also think this a great thing that is being put into bf2. The amount of times i have died becuz of armor. Now i can last longer without worrying about armor taking me down every 2 minuites.

Dude, armour is a part of war.... What is it whith you guys? I mean I hate getting spawn killed by some ******* in an APC just sitting there and popping off people but I don't gripe about it too much. Armour, Attack Choppers, Jets and Vehicles along with UAV, Satellite Scan and Artillery are all what B2 is all about. it's B2, not Battlefield 1942 (which also had Armour and planes) I will probably fight on some non vehicle servers from time to time but I will always play according to my environment. I can't really gripe about it because it's something I can counter with anti tank or AA. To me it's that simple.

P.S. I'm probably babbling right now as I am EXTREMELY tired lol..g'night

If they come from CS, yes, it absolutely is a terrible, terrible thing.
