no it shouldnt be hard, it doesnt require aim, it just requires you point to a certain pixel, and fire cheaply before they can take off......

pixel shooting is lame, what we need is an active sky (non-static) :)

Just think of all the radeon9550 and nVidia5200 threads that'd disppear from the support forum lol....

Pixel shooting, although imaginative and creative......

is just another long, and rather lengthy virus that has swept into BF2, further erroding it.

Remember. Its not if your team wins or loses. Its how high you, yourself can score. Thats about the mentality of the average player in BF2 now. This, in a game that has so many teamwork tools available. Wacky.

one thing that always annoyed me in Desert Combat is the pixel shooting from artillery (back when artillery took skill and a spotter)

People would just line up with the clouds and fire away. I always asked the devs to randomize the sky.

Would anybody mind telling me what exactly pixel shots are?

Kind of bad not knowing, even though ive played BF2 since launch and BF1942 and mods long before that.

Im guessing its like guiding a SRAW or TOW really really far, and just estimating where they are? Like on iron gator, me and the rest take out the MEC boats before we can see them with SRAWS.

Taking out stuff you cant see with SRAWs is tough, but fun heh.

What I did was apply for commander, and then zoom into the carrier after each shot to see where they were hitting. That worked "okay-ish".

I then fired up a second instance of BF2 on my laptop so there would be a second player to act as a spotter. On my primary machine, I became squad leader and would choose "Attack here" for where the various assets spawn. After a half hour, I found the sweet spot for hitting each of the assets on the carrier from that distance and altitude.

Lastly, I joined an Oman server and got quite a few "WTFs" from people onboard the carrier.

Note: there is a max distance for tank shells. It's at or around 750 meters. If it hits nothing at that point, it simply explodes in the air. Thus, you cannot hit the carrier from MEC airbase.

It's this kind of ingeniousness I RESPECT. Though I'd curse you to hades if I were standing on the deck...

Meh, nah I wouldn't. I usually curse my idiot teammates who insist on wasting time with airpower on this map when they're pushed all the way back to the carrier and LOSING. I take a boat in and take flag.

Would LOVE to watch you raping my teammates one day doing this. :laugh:

personally i think pixel aiming is lame but i loved the story .... it showed how much individualism goes on in the game, don't get me wrong i may have met this same a$$hat in the past and chased him around a map till one of us got booted before, i never understood the mentality of those who like to kill their teammates for kicks or vehicles or...

Oh yes indeed it does.

They really should limit the TOW distance to prevent pixel shots.

Why? How many people in this game actually know how to pixel aim? Will people asking for this game to be nerfed never end?

in real life the tow is a wire guided missile, which means u have to have visual acquisition of the target and guide the missle there. we have a problem..

Game has nothing to do with Real Life as far as gameplay goes. It only looks similiar to the real thing. So why should we nerf something based on what it does in real life vs the game?

im not saying they should nerf it, im just saying they should fix the pixelated shooting deal, particularly because of Sharqi. fyi, im a big military enthusiast so noticable things like this get to me.

Yes and every top team was using it. So, you have to adjust to it. You send troops out to destroy the artillery.

In BF2, the same applies, you have to use teamwork to fight against pixel shooting. Just like using teamwork to take out the AA so your pilots can fly.

I see no problem with pixel shooting, it just makes you adjust your team play. You now add those assests as targets to destroy and keep down.

No need to nerf anything, just adjust your game play.
