Wow... pixelshots really do upset some people dont they?

So Im playing a round of Sharqi, and there is a guy teamkilling alot for the MEC chopper, and Im USMC commander, so I start artying him at the pad after he gets shot down. After awhile the guy teamswitches (non auto-balanced server) and comes to the tv station and knifes me.

Figuring turnabout is fair play, I teamswitch and go over to the MEC helipad and find the chopper just sitting there. I wait a few seconds - hidden - and sure enough here comes teamkillerforchopper dude, and he places some c4 on the chopper and then drives off (just over the hill to wait for the icon to dissapear no doubt) so I run up and throw my own c4 on the chopper and go back to hiding.

Teamkillerforchopper boy gets sick of waiting I guess, so he comes over and gets in the hellicopter and gets about 3 feet off the ground before I end his fun. *click* ... *BOOM*

So he teamswitches again and spawns at the chopper to come look for me (im up the hill by now) and I promtly blow him up with c4 again, then get bored and take off to cap a flag. Teamkillerforchopper boy goes and captures the tv station, and proceeds to sit on top of the station and shell people with the chopper cannon. By now Ive already gone back to USMC, and I catch on to what hes doing, so I figure Id try the TV station pixel shot that was on this forum a couple days ago... ROFLMMFAO

This guy gets canned by not only myself but 2 other people as he proceeds to call us all hackers and anything else he can come up with. I guess this tactic really REALLY pisses people off? ....

They really should limit the TOW distance to prevent pixel shots.

I agree Talus... I felt kinda dirty for doing it... and had I not been zoomed in watching this guy kill his own teammates, I probably would have just done it the old fashioned way with AT...

Why..pixel shots make NO sense.

You only need to take out when you can SEE.

It's not like the TV missile which has a camera attached and you're supposed to be guiding them over a distance.

Hey, I could certainly care less...but I just hope that these pixel shots don't become ubiquitous.

LoL... I decided to fire up a LAN server and play around with the T-90 on Gulf of Oman. I can (nearly) consistently destroy helicopters and jets on the carrier from the rubble area in between Village Fortification and Rock Fortification. :)

i can do it on wake with type-98 :) kinda line up the tank hud with the us uncap sign thingy in the right way and can do it

I think that pixel shooting, despite not being a "hack" or an "exploit" as such is just a bit lame and goes against the spirit of BF2 (or what I think the spirit of BF2 is). I put vehicle drops on players and / or vehicles in a similar category, it just doesn't make sense that you can do it.

It's a good thing most people don't seem aware of it as it'd get annoying as hell to constantly be taken out by people who are off the other side of the map.

What I did was apply for commander, and then zoom into the carrier after each shot to see where they were hitting. That worked "okay-ish".

I then fired up a second instance of BF2 on my laptop so there would be a second player to act as a spotter. On my primary machine, I became squad leader and would choose "Attack here" for where the various assets spawn. After a half hour, I found the sweet spot for hitting each of the assets on the carrier from that distance and altitude.

Lastly, I joined an Oman server and got quite a few "WTFs" from people onboard the carrier.

Note: there is a max distance for tank shells. It's at or around 750 meters. If it hits nothing at that point, it simply explodes in the air. Thus, you cannot hit the carrier from MEC airbase.

it sucks not being able to take off.......thats why i have strict policy not to rape ppl in heli, and i let them take off before engaging them in air combat......its only fair, and i think ppl shouldnt go for cheap kills......but what ya gonna do? oh wells

well, like i said, its been scientifically proven, that easy/effortless points/kills register in a noobs brain as 'fun'....i know myself, and most people i know who play games, enjoy the game that is earning points, not gathering them in the easiest, most skill-less way possible

WoW I dont care what ppl say fair or not that takes skill. If you can get kills that way in a server you should record it with fraps or battlerecorder and make a movie. I have never tried but seen the videos. INSANE keep it up!

this pixel aiming, is simple putting the crosshair in a certain spot, and fire....it doesnt require the slightest of skill...

supposedly dolphin diving takes skill too......i thikn it takes more skill to get kills WITHOUT being cheap an adopting such skill-less tactic
