Re: Too many pilots and gunners...

I still have to work on piloting, but Id say Im above average as a gunner. I was playing Iron Gator the other day, and had a decent pilot, and we would fly around over to the MEC base to get the choppers after they got into the air, but the pilot wasnt good at finding/avoiding the Tunguska. After respawning a couple times, a different pilot beat that guy to the pilots seat, and he was a fantastic pilot. He was great at lining me up for shots, and I never noticed how much of a difference it makes when the pilots actually let the gunner handle getting the kills, instead of trying to missile everything themselves. We were unstoppable.

The so called "chopper pilots disorientation and malfunctional targeting syndrome" has a cause and a reason: gunners they dont know.

I can tell from my own personal experience, that when I have a gunner I know, I have a plan of engagement, plan of retreat and an idea of what I want to do on the field by simply looking at the map. I know what my gunner can do, so I know what I can do and what I SHOULD do.

When I fly a gunner I dont know, or even worse, a gunner who doesnt know jacksh!t about gunning, I just lose the initiative and go straight in, usually getting us both killed in a matter of minutes...
