Evasion invilves usually multiple maneuvers (depends on your jets strenghts. For example for MiG its loops, for F35B its multiple maneuvers) to make you unpredictable for the enemy and lose you from his view. This should also involve playing around with your speed.

If youre in F35B against J10, good luck, you gonna need it. Multiple maneuvers are the key here, again because J10 has a slight delay in control response. Against MiG, try to slow down during those multiple maneuvers. Make use of rear chase view. If you see yourself getting too far ahead, make a loop to decrease the distance. The closer you are to the jet, the better chance to lose him, because your jet will start going through his view faster, leaving no lock time.

All in all its experience. Just try to be less predictable and give them less lock time.

what he said - all good stuff -
but biggest mistake people make is constant rolls back forth
      that does no good
you have to 'pull through' enemies' field of vision

I'm learning myself too. My first "reaction" is to hit ab and loop or split s. Sometimes it works....most of the time it doesn't. I guess hitting the brakes actually may work a little better depnding in how close the enemy is.

maneuvers should also be based on enemy jet distance..

for example, if they are hard on your 6, using brakes / reverse thrust while pulling a hard turn will usually cause them to overshoot you, then you can ram the throttles forward and try to turn the tables in your favor, but if they are trailing from a distance, this tactic becomes useless and infact will increase your chance of being shot down.

instead of being the outgunned F-35B be the overpowered J-10 :p

another ickle tip would be fly in bomb mode, that way you dont lock onto enme jets so they dont know ur there.

and break of to the right, every1 seems to go left

As of this patch, there is next to nothing you can do to evade another jet. The root of the problem lay in the fact that DICE changed the Air to Air missile code which makes missiles nearly impossible to dodge and flares practically useles. If you load up the demo and get into some dogfights, you will see that it is actually quite easy to evade missiles. I made a thread about the problem here: http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78074

If I am in an F-35, I immediatly pull up, to gain altitude. I only release flares if a missile as been fired. If I'm in a J-10, I'll usually stay low, and just turn left or right hoping to out manuever the enemy pilot and come up behind him.

though I am not a pro i found the flares work best if i am watching from the rear view and dont use them untill he actually launches a missle first, then i launch and then try to evade...

Yep, you can evade the first missile with your flares but the rest will always hit unless you're an uber l33t pro jet jock ebay fraudster. Hell, most of the times flares have no effect on A2A or AA missiles. Take my advice, load up the Oman demo and notice the difference in dogfights. It is quite dramatic.

Don't release countermeasures when a missile is fired at you, wait until it is close to hitting you, release the flares, and then break hard. It doesn't work all the time, but most of the time. If a plane spams six missiles, using this method, you should be able to avoid the first three.. Useless of course because the other three are likely to hit, but in non spam fire situations, it gives you a chance to escape.

******** about the flares. Flares work perfectly in any jet. Turn in the direction of the missles and flare outwards. You cant just flare when you hear lock.

Dont say that flares dont work, you have no clue what you are talking about.

Wow just read the rest of your posts about flares. I have flared PERFECTLY against a J10 and have evaded 6 missles many times. The only time a missle hits me when I flare is completely my fault. Flares work fine.

There is no skill in getting lock, but evading lock takes a lot of skill.

As for the OP's problem, you have to flare properly and then try to get the point where your opponent will find hardest to get to and is farthest away from. Hard to explain, but after a while you get a pretty nice feel for it.
