Since I'm mustly the assault guy I need firepower and lots of it. The G3A3 gives you overwhelming stopping power in CQC but in longe range it suffers from whatever the guys at dice decided to do to it.
All the AK's are great in CQC, medium and some longe range. Great firepower and the GP30 adds a little umpff to it when you need it.

The M16A2's are good for their decent damage and high ROF. Just learn how to use the burst mode and your set.

I find the G3A3 alright within about 100 meters

AK101 is totally unbeatable in CQC(unless you meet G3A3) ,any newbie can use it well with a simple tactic :Spray & Pray

"What is the best gun?" is a relative question.

It's completely dependent on the situation at the time of spawning. Some guns being better at close quarter support. Some at mid-range advances/defenses, and some at long-range supression.

*** That said ***

My personal opinion is that the G36E is the overall winner of the "best gun" competition. The only reason it wins is because of the kit (medic) it's associated with. Self-healing means staying alive longer, which in turn means more chances to shoot at enemy, which means more kills.

The L85A1 is a very close second, and the best first unlock in the game. It's long range accuracy is incredible and full-auto makes it a monster for close quarters. And of course it benefits from the Medic kit as well.

the b36c is way too good for the medics to have, i often go for the m16 instead. the pkm is by far the best gun in the game if you know how to use it (most of you dont). the g3 is compleate crap, the aks arnt much better, and the p90 kicks ***. pkm or rpk all the way, even though i have to agree the SAW is looking very good right about now.
