Testing Your Conscience: Feet Through Walls

Picture this scenario:

You're running up to a train boxcar. Someone is inside. It's a sniper. He has claymores on the entrances. He's too deep inside of the boxcar for you to shoot him from the outside. You have no grenades left. His foot is sticking out. You have two options:

a) Stab/shoot their foot and kill them.
b) Skip the kill or wait until an opportunity to kill him presents itself.

What would you do? Is an apparent game bug like this considered exploiting?

It's quite evident that there's no honorable "creed" that we can all agree to, since everyone has a different view on the subject. I say it depends. If it's a competitive match, you should take the kill. If it's not, just let it go and move on.

We all know that this bug will not be fixed because it's been around ever since BF1942. Can we fault a player for taking every opportunity that presents itself to win? Even if all he has to do is take a shot?

The player should know better than to leave his feet stickin out. I always take this into consideration when im proning in the hotel balcony or near sandbags etc...

Its part of the BF2 engine, whether its meant to be used or not, thats up to you. I personally dont enjoy using such exploits, but IMO if DICE or whoever is responsible for these things hasnt fixed it since last year then go ahead and use them. There fault, not yours. While some players do completely abuse the glitches we should also be mad at the makers of the game for letting it there in the first place.

like sacramento said, you should always be aware of what your body is doing while in the prone position.. i always keep that in mind. If someone else is doing it i go for the kill, because most likely he is in a better position to kill me if i try to kill him the "honorable" way.

Considering that I've seen some people using this exploit to shoot through walls ... I don't have a problem.

Walking off a three foot high ledge and landing on your feet resulting in death is another weird one.

I'll try grenade /shoot them preferably, but if they are idiotic enough to stick body parts out of the wall, then by all means shoot it off.

While it isn't true to life, people know legs stick out of walls. They use it to their advantage to get into places they couldn't if there was legs/wall hit detection was 100%.

If the legs said they couldn't be in that position, they wouldn't have such a sweet sniping spot, so they pay the price.

People who don't want that to happen can just crouch.

I think this is present in every game. in Black Hawk Down was worse. but hey. i kill is a kill. I always try to be close to the walls. I dont want people to call me glitcher

It appears the consensus is that everyone (even noobs like me) is aware of the fact that your legs stick through walls and one should be wary of this when laying prone next to one or you might end up in a body bag :dead: and no NREMT-B will be able to save you.
