I stand by my statement that at least 90% (probably more like 95%+) of the people who want Infantry Only mode want it because it will make the game easier for them (easy mode!) and thus make recieving a high score easier thus helping them pad up those statistics. Why do people play the current infantry only "underground" servers? Why does DICE have rules against running such a server?! Plain and simple statistics, that's the sad truth of the matter.
Prove me wrong DICE, make Infantry Only mode an UNRANKED option only. See how many people play your mode, and then you might see the error of your ways. Why encourage people who play purely for statistics? Why hold these players in a higher standing than the individuals who have played the Battlefield series before this statistics garbage and play for fun rather than meaningless numbers.
This statistic imbalance is even MORE true now because DICE listened to my recommendations on creating a well balanced UNRANKED infantry mode (for the players who genuinely want such an option) and dropped a lot of the "tweaks" that would slow down the rate at which players would gain points on such a server. Now it's essentially a medic whores wet dream and you'll constantly see a large chunk of the server end with scores near or exceeding 100 points every game.
This will corrupt the whole statistics system more than it already is and rob the fair and legitimate players the ability to compare and contrast their own statistics with other players they may be competing against.
This is completely unfair to everybody, and if you don't think IO mode will impact your gameplay experience... IT WILL. It most certainly will when a ton of popular "City Map" servers yield to demand from all the score whores and convert over to IO mode so then only a few good pinging "Vehicle only" servers still remain and half the server is on that type of server for the same reason as you and everyone is trying to get a vehicle.
IO mode may just be the worst design decision ever made in an online video game. Right next to Trammel.

Haven't some players had their accounts reset for playing on infantry only servers?
If so, will they get their stats back?
If nobody ever got reset for playing on infantry only servers, than I guess it was pretty pointless for all those minions that went around cyber stalking players in order to rat them out to EA for playing on infantry only servers. Way to waste your gaming experience, must suck to be you

Infantry combat kinda sucks in BF2 anyways. Laggy hitboxes, poor hit detection, it is terrible. DICE could've spent their time doing something a bit more productive but no, they have to attempt to make BF2 like CS and fail miserably.

of course there will still be engineers and AT soldiers, i ground pound now on city maps as engineer from time to time, i just love the pump action shottie :laugh:

but then u gotta remember that DICE tries to satisfy EVERYONE, and that everyone includes:
- whining 12 yr olds
- whining noobs
- whining old farts
- pepole who have nothing better to do
so just keep them in mind whenever u start up bf2

ya i agree, the shotty is damned deadly in close combat, and AT has armour to boot, PLUS they have what some people consider a noob tube
engineers dont have armour, a pump action (unless ur MEC) and nades... kinda puts you off when u compare it to AT
in terms of shotties, AT has the 12 shot DAO-12 compared to the (at max) 7shot Mk3A1/S12K or the pump action...

It bothers me because Battlefield was made by its vehivles. Now that there are so many City Map only servers and this new IO mode to be enabled on any map it greatly reduce the amount of quality other servers availible. This could not happen but with the amount of City map or karkarand only servers out there as it is its likely to happen.
