Sure, that system may be open to abuse - but if a commander is actually doing his job, he would probably not have to worry about mutinies against him.

Not always the commanders fault that the team are losing the round. If the team are not attacking or trying to take a flag, then they will blame the commander.

Been there, done that

If there is an admin on the server and the commander isn't doing his job, speak to the admin and ask if he can kick him or whatever.

I would like to see this fixed by ranking commanders by win ratios, commander points, experience as squad leader, etc. but something other than just time spent in boots and killing/capping.

I'm sick of having to suffer through some ultra-lame commander who, because of his higher rank (which doesn't mean he's very good, just that he's played more than some) monopolizes the commander position. These guys usually run around trying to fight and command at the same time, not very effectively I might add. Your requests as squad leader go unanswered and your team almost always loses because of the awful commanding. This happens a lot of servers that play the same map more than once or twice.

I'm sure some of you have had this experience so I ask, do you think the commander position should be limited to two or three times per round?

No they shouldn't limit it, they've earned the points (they may suck, but still), but if they have more points then you then they deserver it more.

Not true, what if your rank gave you the "right" to walk up to any vehicle his/her teammate is in and "take it" from you, auto kick you out and they take the vehicle, would you still say """they've earned the points (they may suck, but still), but if they have more points then you then they deserver it more."""" they have more points and rank so they "deserve" it??

I bet you would be very upset about that, so the commander position, instead of being ranked based, should be a random choice of those who apply for the job, rank in this game should be just whats displayed next to your name, it shouldnt give you bonus's over others, that will make even more stat padding go on

Why not just play on a different server? Or joina clan that has their own server so you can be commander in peace?

Teamkill the commander a few times. Not necessarily by direct means.

That will screw him or her up and cause him or her to leave.

You seem like a reasonabhle person so I'm a bit surprised you can't see the merits of limiting command. You are not exactly denied the chance to command if you've already commanded three times, yeah? You've had your turn, now it's time to let someone else have a go at it. If you could never command because someone with higher rank kept getting command over and over (the current system) then you might appreciate more a command limit. So you can't command for two or three rounds, which is after you have already commanded two or three rounds. You'll get your chance to command again in due time. It's not a complicated concept, and it's one I think is fair to all involved. For a game that emphasises team play the present system that allows command whoring is kind of ironic.

Yep, I do see positive aspects of limiting but, didn't want to create the dreaded wall of text and go off in a different direction from the original post/poll.

However I do agree that the system is flawed and needs some fixing. Like making the mutiny votes less or something... I suck bad as an individual player but have on occasion hooked up with a good squad with a great commander and really enjoyed the game. But more often than not, squads not working together and a commander that is only concerned with putting a UAV directly over where he's tank whoring.

Limiting solely based on number of rounds in row commanded though, I still don't like it.

That's like...communism. We all get our equal share. Those of you who have worked hard shall get what all the others get. I disagree...We should be rewarded for our performance. I understand that everyone should get a chance, and certainly agree that if it applied to vehicles it would be a problem, but this is too far.

What if it was based on commander-score per minute. That would be a good parameter since it's really not something easily exploited. If a guy with 5000 commander points and a commander SPM of 3.1 went against a guy with 30,000 commander points (or a higher rank in general) with a commander SPM of 0.19. The guy that has the better quality should win.

I understand it might be frustrating when the person has like 1 rank ahead of you, and just because of that you can't get the Commander position, but what your saying is a person with like 50,000 pts should be equal to the Commander position as a guy starting out with 0 pts??? I say screw that, the new guy hasn't done anything to be Commander.

ALSO, I would be careful complaining about being Commander....DICE might nerf Commander out completely

No from me. I've been in too many games where NO ONE is commander... so I volunteer (I'm a measly 3 bar seargent). I do OK at it but prefer to be on the gorund. If someone wants to take that thankless position and stare at a boring bunch of colroed dots all game, I APPRECIATE them for it. In fact when I hear that a commander has accepted position, I invariably send out a THANK YOU in the game to them. A bad commander is betetr than a good one 90% of the time.

It's rare when someone is so bad they hurt a team. It takes a lot of arty and supplies dropped nearer enemies and unitspotted spamming to be bad.

Maybe a 3-5 round limit would be nice if you have some one monopolizing the role.

I'd say it's about 33/33/33 with commanders were I play. Some suck, some try, some are great. So much depends on so many different factors whether he can do a good job or not, it's a pretty big leap to assume any commander sucks at any given time.

I can't see what's going on through out the battlefield so I can't really judge if he's doing well or not.

Just because we're not winning doesn't mean he's not trying. People might not be following his orders. The other team may just be that much better. As long as he's doing something, I'm fine with him.

Even if I request an arty strike and it doesn't happen when it's still available, it doesn't mean he's ignoring me or not doing his job. There could be a more pressing situation that he is saving it for, that has a better strategic value.

Just because you don't get what you want immediately as an SL doesn't mean the guy sucks.

My biggest problems with commanders in general is they seem very reluctant to defend a postition. It's always rush off to the next flag, but as soon as you leave the one you just capped, it goes white. How many times have you seen the purple sheild come up? It is a strategy to continually take spawns, but what I find happens is the other team adopts the same strategy, and it ends up a war of attrition. Sure it goes down to the wire sometimes, but trying to assure that happens everytime is not a sound way to win on a consistant basis. It's like playing for tie and hoping you win in overtime, every game.

Lately as an SL of even the most impatient players, I've started to defend a position once or twice after capturing it. Make the other team think it's a pain to get that spawn. At least give the impression your defending it. Then when things quiet down sneak off on another assignment.

yes. most definetly. i cant tell u how many times an aboslutely horrible commander has pulled rank on me at the beginning of the game repeatedly. seeing as how mutinys never do their job so i do think there should be a limit on the number of times u can be a commander.

Not really fair. Today I was playing on SF and commanding, my team won every round, I helped them (I hate commanders who don't spot) alot, dropping supplies, vehicles, spotting anything that got passed.

I was Commander for about 3 rounds, but then on the 4th the server crashed, then I went back in and it crashed again so I just didn't go in again, but it was a good round never the less.
