I think that A/A has a system similar to what you're talking about where you get more points for being in close proximity to SL, and I don't know how they track it, but it figured if you were a SAW gunner you got points (or at least props) for providing suppressive fire (not accurate fire). In relation to BF2 I'm definitely a CBCG, I play best and have the most fun when I'm backing someone up. PKM rounds fly wildly about in an attempt to either draw their fire or keep their heads down long enough for my squad mates to get a bead on them. And defense rocks (D-Fence!), plus if I’m mistaken you get two points if you bust a cap in someone trying cap your flag. Support was just made for defense. :ar15:

I play for stats until I get my next unlock, then I'm happy.

In AA you get **** all points for getting kills, and insane honour for completing your objectives or being a squadleader at some point during the round (even if you get battle promoted). You also lose an insane number of points for even shooting a teammate which gets a bit annoying, so you just need to watch your fire.

I will drive over mines to clear them for my team following in armoured vehicles, and have done quite often. Also run out so that the team can get a bead on the sniper thats got us pinned down. Stuff like that I like doing for the team. I will spend an entire evening of playing just as engineer hovering around our teams arty uav and scanner to keep them good. Stats? nah, don't get me wrong, its nice to look at them now and then but its team work for me, thats where I get my enjoyment from. Wasn't always like that though, its only since I joined a clan tbh

^Oh for sure ^ My homies and I aren't big enough for a clan, but we always form a squad (sometimes two if everybody's on) and tear it up rolling deep.

Rowdy, there isn't a minimum number to be a clan mate. So you don't have a website or your own server, so what?
You already seem to be playing as a clan anyway, all you need to do is use the prefix thingy when you log on. As long as you and your friends all have the same prefix, everyone else will assume that you ARE a clan when you are in a squad together, sorted!!
How about -=TSC=- ? Too Small Clan perhaps. No-one else needs to know what it means mate!

I'm definitely a cbcg. I like getting decent scores but by decent I mean getting lots of caps or defends. I get far more satisfaction out of capping a heavily defended flag or defending a flag under fire than I do getting a ton of kills and no deaths.

Immersion, as it applies to the OP's use, is a state of being engrossed or absorbed in the game. You're no longer just sitting at a keyboard playing a game...you're INTO the game. These moments are why I've been playing BF2 for almost a year. Defense? I don't think you've played this game to its full potential unless you've been a part of a fully functioning squad, all on VOIP, defending the TV Station on Sharqi, the Intake on Kubra, the West Mine Entrance on FuShe Pass against a full-on assault.

As a squaddie I've gone up the ladder at the tv station on many occasions with the intention of clearing the inevitable claymore at the top.
As a squad leader at the tv station I've used voip to say "go up the ladder and clear the claymores" and I've been lucky enough to have squaddies that acutally did it.
The game is SO MUCH BETTER when you're in a good squad.

Good topic. I guess I would consider myself a cbcg. I play for points, but not medals. I only play for points to get unlocks. Usually when I get a medal, I just kinda stumble on it lol. I get my points by helping the team: Resupplying, healing, repairing, and flag capping. Not by armor whoring or any other methods of getting massive kills. It's just more fun to play for the team than to play for cyber-ribbons, imho.

I'm the same way. Usually what I'll do is go on the offensive and take my favorite flag. Once we got it - I'll never leave that flag even if we secure flags closer to the enemy.

Another great feeling is to hide some c4 on a busy roadway and hide out. I'll watch the road with my detonator out. I'll even pick up the mouse and hold it in my hand just to get that immersive feeling that I'm really a jihadist waiting for a hummer to roll by.

When it does, i scream ALLAH ACKBAR! out loud and push the button. If I score a kill I like to say lalalalalalalalalala! and sometimes I'll even pull out my ak (in the game) and fire it in the air (who cares about accuracy when your immersed?)
