Sharqi TV missile cheat?

A few weeks ago I loaded up a random 64 person server that was running sharqi. I spawned on MEC and decided to take a ride in the Havoc. Bad idea. It was blown up by a TV missile the moment I got inside! I spawn again and wait at the helipad and the same exact thing happens, this time it happened the moment the havoc spawned. Whoever was doing it was beyond the fog as I could only see the trail from the missile.

I start to think something fishy is going on so I just sit by the helipad and see what happens. The chopper spawns and sure enough here comes a TV missile that nearly blew me up too! All the while the people who were in the cobra were tearing up people on land left and right (as evidenced by the kill list) yet they still had the time to launch a TV-M the moment the havoc spawned! I decide to wait again and this time the havoc spawns but nothing happens. I wait for about 30 secs (by this time the crowd that was waiting on the chopper gave up and left me alone) and still nothing happens so I hop inside and here comes a TV-M again! I decide to wait one more time and park a vodnik in front of the havoc to see what happens. This time the missile comes in my direction (im standing on the hill to the left of the havoc) and kills me point blank!

Now things are getting really ridiculous but I have not voiced any suspicions. I spawn on land to see wtf these guys are doing and notice that they are flying around gunning ground troops yet I did not get to see them launching a TV-M. Perhaps they had a stop watch and were timing the spawn time but more than likely they were up to no good.

I am sure it wasn't a tv missle, it was the TOW by hotel, and someone posted on how to do it.

If it was the cobra missle tho then there is nothing to say they didnt just stay about 400 meters out from the mec uncap flag and lob a tv missle in when they saw the heli pop up on the minimap.

After playing this map ssssooo many times 90% of people don't need a timer as its already in theirs heads for when the chopper shouild be coming back. I can't rpredict the second its going to come back but if I know around when it expect it to be there I can have a quick look at the minimap and know its spawned AND that someone just got into it (cause it disappeared again).

No real tricks to this at all. Pretty basic from the tow aswell once you know where to aim.

If you check your map, the emtpy Havoc is grey in colour, as soon as it disappears, you know someone took it. Thats how its done. And I think he had a map up, and he was good with the missiles.

A good team can do that = time thier kills
and watch the mini map for the grey icon to disappear
(so can a no-fog hacker)
solution - get a decent commander to watch the helo
use stingers and jeeps to smoke him
take over the tv station

A cheat? No. It's not a cheat.

Knock down the enemy helo on any 2 helo map, and a competent gunner, or solo pilot can keep that helo down the entire round if they choose to, it's so easy to do it requires little to no thought at all.

Your best solution on Sharqi as a MEC player is to overwhelm and cap the TV Station flag as someone mentioned.

Give the USMC helo something else to worry about.

It was not a TOW missile. The kill list said it was a cobra.

its happend to me its the TV missle range, they can go high up through teh fog and still hit ur helipad its nothng to worry about in the cheating fasion, but it is classed as baserape.

Personally I think this is a cheap way of playing. Sure, you are pretty damn good if you can time vehicle spawns while playing, but I like to classify this not as baseraping, but as nolifing. If you've seriously played bf2 THAT much, you need to go outside and do what normal people do. Sure, you're very onethreethreeseven if you can do that, but spawnattacking a helo all round without even seeing it is just the result of extremely high skills coupled with low learning curve. Plus, what fun is it anyway?

Do this in a clanmatch, fine, they have proper defenses, but terrorising a semi-organised pub team this way doesn't give you all that much more kills anyway, and it takes the fun out of their gaming experience.

Exactly. I've seen that done before; and if I had a good pilot, it'd not be hard to do it.

Wah. Give up on the helicopter, spawn somewhere else and capture some flags instead.

I believe the vehicles spawn every 30 secs if I'm not mistaken. Honestly, if the helo is within 90 degrees in the direction of the helo, you can easily correct the path and take out that helo. Just time it, and its down. Everytime. Bummer that happened though, it becomes agrivating. Should've spawned at the hotel and hopped in the vodnik/AA to take him down.

When you died on the hill... I do that to infantry also. haha If I see the helo isn't manned and the infantry are running up to it, I'll take out the infantry 1st. Just takes a 1/2 sec to correct, and boom you're toast.

i always do that when im on us side in sharqi. i do it like what chris said. look at the map. when the mec chopper is not yet taken, theres a grey chopper on the minimap. when its taken, jus shoot the tv missile at that direction and guide it through the fog at the direction of where the chopper will be becos the chopper will take time to get off the ground. so its possible to keep shooting that chopper down. it no cheat, in fact its very common tactic.

yep thats probely what happened, just look at your minimap for the Gray chopper to appear as soon as its gone you know someones in it and wont be able to lift off for a few secs until its warmed up giving you enough time to turn from what ever your doing and shoot
