You want DICE to bring back prone spamming? Watch this.

I noticed some people want the delay during switching stances removed or lowered. Quote from another thread:

    – Prone spam removed so players can’t dodge enemy fire properly (now you must crouch-shoot in order to survive = CS). It should be reintroduced to the game.
    – The prone-stand switch wasn’t reintroduced to the game. The ability to switch from prone to standing position should be faster and more efficient as it was prior to 1.2. It was good in the past, and made no trouble. The “dolphin diving” should be nerfed in another way.

Watch this vid and ask yourselves - do you want BF2 infantry combat to look like this?

i think the delay is a good idea. even today people going prone annoys me. how often in a real life firefight in an open field, would two soldiers drop to their stomachs, crawling around shooting at each other?

Now I see why there is a delay good thing they did add it in.

That is your problem right there. This is NOT real life, it is a videogame. No one likes to get owned, but it happens. It's a war game and the quality is being seriously compromised.
The game should be fun. I've recently looked more in depth at some of the posts about people using macros. It seems that multiple actions programmed into one keystroke can make it super easy to do all kinds of weird stuff. In particular the Logitech G15 keyboard. So, since we ahve a couple hundred people doing this, should the entire community suffer and having the game changed yet again for the ###th time? I say no.
I want this game to be fun, not full of all kinds of limitations on this, that and the other. You can;t do this, you can't do that...Why? Just because of the macros people are using? That is the true exploit the macros being programmed into the keyboards, not the mechanics of the game themselves.
Next thing you know, we wont be able to shoot while walking, we wont be able to jump in any direction except straight up. I think that being able to run and dive for cover is a good reason enough to leave the prone the way it was. Enough with the nerfing already. Optimize! Optimize! Optimize!

Everybody still uses prone. It's just that you cant fire when going from prone to crouch and prone to standing. I don't know why someone would go prone and then quickly get up to dodge the bullets anyway, why go prone in the first place then?

You can still do that in the game anyway, just cant do it whilst shooting. Big deal. I'll admit it affected me becuase i didn't realise how much i did it before too, but when you think about it, it doesn't make CS style gameplay where everybody just uses crouch instead. Why does everyone keep looking at this game like CS.

CS has crappy animations, no ironsights, just nice graphics and some physics. It's a different sort of game.

This game seems more like CoD and Americas Army.

You need to go prone to get decent accuracy at anything but engagements within 5 meters.

id very much like to see what many ppl would do if the rabbithopping/worm thingy wasnt there, get killed? what about being able to sprint and jump in a spear like fashion to a front/sideflip into a roll ending up in a crouch position or even hold the prone whilst rolling instead an yeah(just for the lightweight infantry) if ive got heaps ideas then theres gotta be manya different ways of making these sorts of actoins atleast look realistic gettn off the topic, i just wanna see more realism in these sorts of games.

Actually when real soldiers are getting fire in an open field, you better bet your bolongna, that that soldiers is going prone and crawling around.

Also, while diving for cover he ain't gonna be shooting unless he wants to kill his buddy.

I have to agree with the above post, In real life they do go prone. This offers better accuracy when firing. I myself go prone when engaging the enemy as it reduces the hit box, and improves accuracy. But once I go prone I stay that way. Once the enemy is dead or I have died, I then get up. Its fine the way it is right now. No need for it to be nerfed up or down. Jason

I don´t think the prone spamming would be that annoying if the weapons were just a LITTLE bit more accurate while standing/walking (not running).
The problem now is that (unless you are at close range) lying down, your weapon is that much more accurate that not being able to move at all is actually no problem.

Also, a lot of the problem lies in bf2's animation. When somebody goes prone, you don't see it until he's already down, thus giving him half a second in which your aim is way off, and his gun is more accurate than yours, AND he has already taken aim while diving...
I first noticed this annoying animation/delay problem when I saw someone prone behind a low wall. He kept popping up from behind cover, shooting at me and diving back down again. All in 1 second, and somehow the bullets hit me while he was nowhere to be seen. The timing is just wrong. I don't see the guy popping up from cover until he has taken his shots and is already covering again. (No, there was not any lag, it was a LAN game)

Other people have confirmed this over the past few patches, yet it seems it has only gotten worse since the introduction of the anti-dolphindiving measures.

I don't think DICE should have limited player movement in any way, since the ability to maneuver your character properly and effectively is step 1 in being able to play properly.

How are you supposed to survive a firefight when your movement is limited in several different ways?

IMO a better option would have been to reduce the inaccuracy of the weapons while standing.

Oh and, reducing the hit box by lying down is BS. What part of your body are you exposing to enemy fire by lying down with your head in his direction? Exactly ... your head. Sure, it's a smaller target, but going prone like that makes sure that every shot he DOES pull off is a headshot.

edit: However, what IS also annoying is the behaviour you see in this movie clip. It just plain sucks. Of course, it is not cheating/hacking/glitching in any way to play like this, but you can kinda say this is like hitting someone with a paintball from 1 foot away .. it's just no goddamn fun.
My aim is not bad, and I can honestly say I am an above par player of most shooter games, but I just can NOT take aim at people that play like this. It's just totally unpredictable.

Interesting video - and while I fully understand that it's just a game, I do like my gameplay to be as close to reality as possible. I take pride in not bunny hopping and doing crap like what was in the video. If it means I die a little more often, then so be it.

I don't have a problem with diving to the ground - as was said above, that's what really happens. I do have a problem with guys being able to instantly produce aimed fire the millisecond they hit the ground.

Where I'd like to see the delay is when standing up - unless you're a gymnist, no one can jump up from the prone position instantly and I doubt even the best gymnist could do it with 100 pounds of gear on their back.

I agree completly with the above post. I would have to say that if any adjustment were to be made it would have to be in the form of regaining the standing postion. Although it doesn't solve the problem of dolphin diving complely, i.e. them huggin dirt as soon as they put thier eyes on you when they pop around a corner 3m away, it does adress repeated abuse of some one running to cover at medium to long ranges; or even close ones for that matter. Im almost afraid to think though what movement constrictions will be added to reduced dolphin diving and bunny hopping abusers. The only thing that comes to mind is how they always seem to evade even well placed shots that are well-led along thier heading and directly into them, where they seem to put the 5-6 rounds into your torso even before they completly hit the ground. They do this even as the animation actually does show the gun pointing away so the model hits the ground forearms first just as a real person would do to take a minial brusin' from the pavement if you know what I mean. Thats what we should do! make a small damage penalty from hitting the dirt while running, of repeated use of diveing . In all seriousness though, putting any restrictions on movement such as I've mentioned, and things I haven't, runs the risk of haveing a serious detriment on play if not done skillfully and with proper thought, and even then if those are executed theres a chance it will come off sucking. Fragile things these are.

Would be fun to have a "fun-mode" in BF2 where these kind of things were available!
