Why exactly are there jets?

OK I need to vent.

Why have they got jets on maps where there are little to no defences against them? So you just get an endless unrelenting dropping of bombs wrecking any sort of ground offensive. It seems so easy to fix as well. Stick some linebackers on Wake for example or give ground troops the ability to have an anti-aircraft weapon. Or even upgrade the ability of the hopeless stingers. I mean the jets outrun most of the stingers sent their way and then they just turn around and shoot/drop bombs on you before they've reloaded again. The Chinese equivalent of the linebacker is less than useless - may as well be a people killer.

I have my gripes about helicopters as well but feel you have at least a fighting chance against them.

Jets are only a way for people to stat pad & amass points quickly - they do NOTHING else to help make BF2 a better game.

nothing is wrong with the planes but the ground defenses i must say, are a different story. planes are almost impossible to shoot down with stingers. it really would be nice to have something heavier, like a 37mm aa gun or a SA-5 SAM site.(even though its never gonna happen.) just something to make people think twice about plane whoring.

Because both sides have jets and they should counter each other. If you get bombed every 15secs, then blame your teams noob pilots for not doing thier job.

If u don't like it or simply can't fly for $hit, then play AF. Whenever I can't get a helo or jet on AF I just grab a Bradley and go camp behind some cliff/hill the incoming enemy fighters can't see past and own them all day, I actually had some dude cursing the **** out of his flares earlier it was pretty funny. Just play AF dude.

Just keep playing it get's better, and now and then you can score a victory against even the best pilots.

Last night at Stalemate I stayed in the AA for the whole round (well not actually in it, but you get the idea). THe ace pilot on the other side tore into me every chance he got. But I took the deaths and respawned , taking out every chopper that attempted to caputure the first base on the chain of islands.

Then they artyied me, then they dropped vehicles on me, I respawned and never gave up. I only got one clean hit on the the apposing jet. We won the round by over 150 points. For all his invunerablility he couldn't contribute to a win for his team.

Can't cap a flag from the cockpit.

i think they added it in so u can have those desperate moments where ur holding out against like 20 enemy troops with vehicles and then ur firing ur rifle like crazy and then ur planes swoop down and destroy them all and u cheer (just like the movies)

This is true. You people don't even realize the Ownage that would occur if the aircraft could meet their actual potential in the game.

If you were on the US... well still.. don't just sit in the AA and expect to live. You aren't using it right. The AA is perfect how it is.

aghh... even still... USMC on wake is fine on the ground. I have over 400 hours just on that map, so I know what I am talking about. I play on the ground just as much as I am in a vehicle.

People complain sooooo much about jets, but they don't realize... it's their OWN fault.


Heres a couple tips for the people that complain...:

1) When you want to kill a jet, hang out around 10m from the AA prone, and look for jets. If a jet comes your way, start running towards the AA. When the jet is about to pass you, hop in and THEN shoot 1 missle, wait for flares, and then shoot another one. If he is coming in fast, then just shoot them both.

2) Jets are like artillery. When they bomb, they are going to go for masses of people, or things that they know are a threat to them. Act as though the jets in the sky are artillery. Being a huge jet whore, listen to me when I say this.. I look at the map MORE than in front of me. If I see a big group of people on a certain spot, I already know exactly where they are, and I look for the general direction they are headed, so when I bomb, I do it a little bit in front of them. AND... every time I pass over land, I look behind me while i'm flying low.. so this is where people call "HACKER!!!" because I come back around and nail them. So if you dont want to die, go lonewolf and don't stay near any "groups" of people.

3) VEHICLES! DO NOT get into a vehicle if a jet is in the air... you WILL get killed if there is even a semi-decent pilot in the air. These are my personal favorite, because it's not a guessing game anymore. You are guarunteed at least one kill.. and some people are dumb enough to waste bombs on them... but the better pilots will take them out instantly with cannons.


Yeah.. so many things. It isn't what the jets in the air do, it's your own fault if you keep getting killed by jets.
