    Hours played vs. stats discussion

I am just curious about a few things... first let me say that I am not knocking anyones situation or lifestlye that will inevitably come up, I am just wondering for myself. I was looking at the stats & leaderboards online and noticed an interesting list: http://bf2s.com/rankings/hpd/ - There are some serious players out there with some massive hours played per day! How in the world can somebody log 10/15/20! hours a day every day? I mean besides having the free time to do it, dont you get tired? Sore wrists? Headaches? I play for like 2 hours in a row and I get all those symptoms. I love the game, I wish I could just game for a few hours without all that pain. Also my skill tends to go down after a few hours in. I do have an ergonomic chair and the keyboard/mouse at perfect level but still....

As I said I enjoy the game alot and try to better my (lowly) stats and gain awards but I just can't seem to log the hours necessary :) Looking at the leaderboards, the top players all have 1000+ hours invested. I am jealous! Another interesting note is that out of the top 25 in hours logged, only 1 is from USA.... do our friends from other nations have longer days than us? :)

I am curious to read what others think about this topic. Thanks for reading & responding-

Well i´m pretty much the same as you Cazzy, i can´t imagine how on earth they find the time, unless they are account sharing, unemployed, or whatever.

I was playing "Handgranade At Karkand" at the weekend with a 2nd LT and he was rather good at it (unlike me), so afterwards i looked at his stats and stared in disbelief, he enrolled in Feb 2006 and has clocked up 913 hrs as of today. WTF !!.

I enrolled in Feb 2006 as well and just clocked up 200 hrs, and i thought that i played a lot, but this guy, well, is that dedication or what ?

I checked out that list, and noticed something

Everybody either has like 5000 or 10-30 hours logged.

Guys with 5000 hours have abysmal score/minute.. I mean, even BAD players get SPM of ~1. These guys have spm of ~0.1 instead .. so either their "time played" stat is bugged somehow, or they have just idled all day long.

Guys with 10-30 hours is entirely different thing.. the accounts are brand new, and getting say, 10 hours/day for total of 30 just means that their significant others have gone away for weekend, and it's just beer, junk food and bf2 for them for 72 hours.

Only "real" addict on that list is this one : http://bf2s.com/player/67382006/

Many people just idle to get hours up to try to get an Expert Badge or something like that.

I always thought that servers would kick for idling... maybe I was mistaken, does it count as hours if you dont spawn in the map? But in turn that would drive all your competitive score numbers down if that kind of thing is important to you..... I like the 72 hours of beer, junk food, & BF2, who wants to take my wife & kids for the weekend? :)

Server kick for idle is a server setting. It can be set to any length of time or turned completely off.

I'm not sure if it counts as hours if you don't spawn in. I would tend to think that it doesn't count so you would at least have to check on BF2 every 30 minutes (or however long the rounds are lasting) to make sure you are spawning in on an uncap on the new map. Once you pick your spawn point you'll just keep spawning in, so you wouldn't have to sit there and watch it.

It's not about stats you have to also include which map I think I'm pretty good for a Wake 32 Slot Server.. Map I mostly played is Wake Island 2007.. If you play Karkand and have a SPM of 1.0 You suck! Even if it's the 16 Player.. Karkand has revive spamming, grenade spamming, vehicle whoring like Tanks and APC'S. And of course good infantry fights.. Wake is a far bigger map than Karkand.. Especially if you are playing on a 32 Slot Server instead of a 64..

In a couple of the servers I play on, the admins will log in and idle so that there are more (enough) people on the server to play. Idle autokick can be set to 'off', and they sometime will log in later at night to make sure the server stays populated. I didn't think idle would be logged of affect stats though...

First if you have a headache take a rest every one hour not two.
                  Second buy a good LCD.
Third forget about players who has 1200 hours played, mybe a team running these accounts or someone who has no life.

                  Good Luck.

Yeah well I got headaches often will a LCD/TFT reduce headaches or something.. Most headaches are from playing too much BF2 in my vacation.. Sorry to Hijack the topic

Remember some of the monsterous playing times are down to a stats glitch soon after the inital release of BF2

I tried to jack up my hours a little lately but I still can only manage 2 or 3 a day before I need to go do something else. As fun as the game is, I just get bored with all the behavior that takes place by unscrupulous players in public servers...

That gets to me a lot as well or being stuck on a team that hasn't got a clue what teamwork is that tends to agitate me as well.

Teamwork? What is that you speak of? I have heard that term used before but I have never actually seen it in action...
