I'm talking about an additional weapon to enhance the kit. As a sniper from other games, BF2 snipers have weak rifles. The PSG-1 was so powerful in Solder, for example, that it was a death machine. The Barret .50 would drop people in one shot. I find BF2 snipers are at a disadvantage because they can rarely kill me as an unarmored medic. I simply heal myself because they almsost never kill me in 1. Rarely the L96 will do me in 1. That's mainly when I'm in a vehicle machine gun.

I'm just trying to see the positive. I'd rather the sniper kit be removed all together if I was all about what I do in game. But I don't feel that way. Snipers keep me careful of my steps in the open and around corners. I would hate to see a claymore nerf in 1.4 even though I complain to myself when they kill me. :)

That would defeat the purpose of a claymore all together.

The sniper rifle is perfect as it is. Soldner was a joke, took no skill to use the sniepr rifles - however it was balanced only because each person could by themselves an apache or A-10. It takes longer for a medic to heal themselves then for you to take another shot. If you see a medic gonig for the revive, its an easy headshot.

Spend some time using the sniper rifle instead of running around with a claymore in your hand.

      Re: Claymores....

I play sniper a lot and I love the claymore. Most of the time I hide it around a corner with its back against a wall, so there is no way for an engineer to disarm it. Most of the time people don't even see the claymores and they're blown up by it already. So for me the ability to disarm it isn't even an issue. But I don't like the idea of claymores to be destroyable because someone can just spam grenades to destroy it whether they can see it or not. I think claymores are fine as is. We can only drop 2 at a time anyway.

I wonder what all these "snipers" would do if claymores were removed.

Why is that, you will stil be capable to use it on ladders as defensive measure, but spreading it all over the place won't help, in reall live glaymores have detonaters, it's not the same as C4 cause it designed to kill only infantry and has sector blast radius....

Clays are fine as they are.I play sniper kit a lot and use them as intended. As a defensive weapon.I really dispise snipers who use it as a spammed device for easy kills.

I play sniper a lot and agree that Claymores are too powerful.

How about reducing the activation and blast radius. Many time I see an enemy claymore and move around it only to have it blow up anyway. Also the ability to spot one to warn teammates.

                Re: Claymores....

                Solution to clays: COMMON SENSE
Don't go in the alleys and other places where you know they are placed.
Take your time and let some poor sucker go in front of you
If you are a medic, then revive the guy.
When going up a ladder slow down at the top and either press F10 or look up at the top to see if there is a clay.
If there is look down and press shift to quickly get of the ladder then procede to kill the sniper by chucking grenades.

There are lots of ways to avoid clays and if you really hate them play on a server where clay FF is on then you will alost never see them and when you do they will be your friend's which will then blow you up and give your teammates a TK.

                  Re: Claymores....

Seriuosly with all the claymore complaining youd think that these things were scattered around like medic bags. Someone take a screen shot of me of these claymores "just all over the place" that they didnt put down themselves or had friends put down and Ill believe you.

In the last patch when it was 5 per player, YES, then it was a problem but now I dont see them at all really (look at my stats I play the city maps almost exclusively). I play sniper a LOT (even have a few videos out for it), and I ONLY use them to defend flags (which Im usually actively defending anyway).

Whats ironic is that people always scream and yell about how pointless the sniper kit is. Entire 9 page threads have been made on the subject, infact. And then you see threads like this that talk about how broken claymores are and they should be dumbed down or removed.

Destructable, yes, I agree, BUT BUT BUT only by hand grenades, no GL, no tank, no C4. That or go the wire route, I wouldnt mind that because I can still defend flags that way (because lets face it, its usually only the snipers who defend anything in this game).

                      Re: Claymores....

the only two problem with claymors is that 1. they dont kill friendlies.....2. they are magically indestructable.....

both of these problems allows stupid noob douches to place them any, and everywhere.....no thought or care is put into their placement.....one claymore stands boldly, in plain sight in the middle of an alley-way, or doorway......indestructable

engineers can remove them, but only if there is a way to get beind it, which we all know, 99.9% of the time, there is no way.......someone should have put forth SOME thought when developing this weapon....fools...

oh, another issue i have with them, is the 20m blast radius is ****ing ridiculous.....i see one...stop....backaway....and it still detonates and kills me....from 20 ****ING meters away....wtf is that horse****?

actually, I think it is 15m.
I agree that the range should be less.
I also think that the more whining = more super nerfs which people will later regret

                          Re: Claymores....

                          Claymores rule.

                          C4 guys love C4.

                          Assaulters love their nade launcher.

Support loves mowing down guys from distance, and collecting easy, drop bag points.
Engies love to get that nice repair point.

COme on every class has an advantage to a degree. But every advantage has a disadvantage when faced with......i mean this could go on and on.

I've had a hard time before getting the TV station because of claymore use.
However, when in a fully equipt squad, that understands the game..... they can drop 100 clays, and we would still get that flag.
Dice has said from the get go...........if your a lone wolf in BF2, your not gonna like it all that much. You can still do stuff.......you just will find yourself in more trouble then not.

                            Re: Claymores....

                            Well said Howie!

                            Im tired of these complainers...

Claymores are more often than not.. placed in defendable spots.. rarely but mostly on Karkand I will see them sitting in an alley dead center and think what a newb, but then where do all the newbs and experts alike hang for easy kills.. KARKAND.

When I place calymores they are in an undisclosed area and most often even firendlies wont know they are there. Most times I see them and they are so conspicuously placed that any moron running into it deserves the death from it for being such a rambo.. yea you pkm proners.

Rambos are fine.. but I will take out a medic or whatever at medium to long distance most often.. its easy with a one shot from M95 then one or up to three more pistol shots.. Bang dead.. actually faster than the sniper rifle could possibly reload and get off two placed shots.

If you practice using a kit long enough. you get good with it.. it takes skill to kill and as far as placing calymores .. Im still doing it, just not spamming them like people say so much.

My vote is NO to nerfing any thing with claymores.. they are just fine the way they are.. at worse.. make them destroyable by Sniper fire... Engi can already remove them and or make it possible to also detonate them with tanks or apcs that can get a direct shot at them, if another class starts shooting at them.. make it take much longer than a sniper shot would till it detonates.

But certainly NO GRENADE should destroy the clays.. not in real life terms.. so all you specification and I got my field manual guys.. go play Americas army or some othe form of Infantry only based play.. Leave the Vehicle physics gameplay to the ones that fully understand its capabilities and fun factor.

Im an original BF1942 player and was modding that game even when it was still in Demo. The way BF2 is today is nerfed from the get go.. with a small amount of improvements like graphics and some small gameplay changes.. other than that.. bf1942 was the Ultimate Vehicle Vs. Infantry battles.. BF2 is not quite there yet But if played correctly its still loads of fun.

Maybe I should stop punishing myself coming here to read the complaints after complaints.. but I am a reasonable person and can agree that there are issues that need resolved gameplay wise or bug wise with BF2.. but for the most part.. I believe many people when aggrivated just have nothing better to do than whine about something and come here to place blame on other players or EA/Dice then begin to surmount improbable fixes that end up nerfing the game even more.

Ok, just be constructive, and I myself would be more willing to hear out most of the critics.
