    Claymores....

How many times have you been killing people left and right and you fly around a corner in all your might and tripped a clay? Well it happens too me way too much.I got thinking about it. shouldn't a class of soilder be able to defuse or cut the trip wire or what not? I was thinking Special forces or engineer. but mainly special forces. becuase SF soilders are trained with EOD. You would have to come from behide on the mine for the fact the front is where they blow. have some little gadgets to cut the little buggers died bye bye claymore be cool if they would do something like this lol.

They should be manually activated not like the sensors they are now. Its too easy to use clays, takes no skill (or very little)

claymores are great, especially on karkland. you plant them in an enclosed alleyway by the hotel and just wait for the you killed whoever to show up. sometimes more than one person. However, i do agree they are too unrealistic. People just randomly put them anywhere (especially around flags) and because they can't hurt teammates it doesn't matter. The realism would definetly be enhanced with the idea above....and thats coming from someone who often uses them....

supposedly the claymore can already be disarmed by engineer although ive never tried.

imo thats not enough. claymores need to be destructable again and they need to be detonate when friendlies walk past them, even if mine ff is off and it doesnt hurt teamamtes. why? because its a booby trap not a defencive measure. they shouldnt be defending flags, they should be defending snipers!

            Re: Claymores....

The only problem with allowing a disarm of a claymore(besides trying to discern it's directional orientation) is reducing the effectiveness of the sniper kit. I rarely play it, but I think they need a weapon they can count on. It does hurt teamates if poorly placed near a flag or spawn and your mates get splashed by enemy activation.

Most of the time you would not be able to disarm it anyway. You usually set them off when you see them. I say this even though I get killed by them alot as an active CP capture guy. It is an anti-personell mine, and like the AT mine is almost un-useable if FF mines is on. Players simply ignore the danger, run at it(or drive), and punish YOU.

A weapon they can count on??

WTF do you call that long gun with the scope that leaves enemies with 2 bars of health? WTF do you call that sharp object that kills enemies with 1 hit??

I never use claymores as a sniper and get 40+ kills. Its these damn n00bs that use the claymores and dont know how to use their gun.

sniper rifles are fine now...much more accurate

and engineers should b the ones to disarm clays cuz their class is just...unfullfilling

I think they should be like the ones in this other game (can't remember what it's called) where you have to plant it, then like drag this wire attached to a stick across a path or something. It was awesome, you could find a narrow path, plant a claymore on one side of it camoflauged in bushes, then drag the stick to the other side, then wait in nearby cover until some poor soul runs into the wire making them go flying

ENGINEERS CAN REMOVE CLAYMORES. ive seen them do it, you just need to be able to spot which direction it is pointing and go behind it or to the side of it.

How about giving a claymores a detonator, like with C4, so you have to manually blow it, if you use it as attack weapon. But if you use it on a ladder you can set it up with tension wire or somthing, this way it would be less of an attack weapon I think...

I dont think snipers should have claymores at all...and this is coming from someone who plays as a sniper all the time.

                          Re: Claymores....

Claymores are like the lame a$$, 1 point medic and supply bags you see laying about 1 every 10 feet.

Yes. TOO MANY claymores on some of these smaller urban type maps. I will agree on that. But the claymore is fine.
The more correct balance, if you will, would be to eliminate the ability for say, an entire team to be snipers. So, for example, only 1 out of 10 people playing can pick that kit. That might slow that down. I dont know.
But nerfing the claymore is stupid.
Nerf the medic bags.......nerf support......give assault and anti tank, and sniper guys something to get free points with, instead of killing.
Eliminate the stupid a$$ airplanes that seemining cant be taken down with the AA.
This game has tons of sh8t wrong with it. Tons. Dice knows it too.

 Alright, that is funny. You do get that long gun.

I'm talking about an additional weapon to enhance the kit. As a sniper from other games, BF2 snipers have weak rifles. The PSG-1 was so powerful in Solder, for example, that it was a death machine. The Barret .50 would drop people in one shot. I find BF2 snipers are at a disadvantage because they can rarely kill me as an unarmored medic. I simply heal myself because they almsost never kill me in 1. Rarely the L96 will do me in 1. That's mainly when I'm in a vehicle machine gun.

I'm just trying to see the positive. I'd rather the sniper kit be removed all together if I was all about what I do in game. But I don't feel that way. Snipers keep me careful of my steps in the open and around corners. I would hate to see a claymore nerf in 1.4 even though I complain to myself when they kill me. :)

That would defeat the purpose of a claymore all together.

In Delta Force: Black Hawk Down and other Delta Force games, destroying claymores was very easy. If u saw one, u just take out a grenade or rocket laucher and blow it up. It took skill and a some knowledge of the game to kno where the best hiding spots for claymores were. In BF2, your screwed. U see a claymore, u hope some unlucky teammate gets rid of it.
