...the game seems really crappy. I know you're thinking, "The patches messed it up" but I'm talking more about BF2's overall gameplay. It's really lame.

I spawned in, immediately dropped C4 on a flag and got shot in the back. Spawned elsewhere and got bombed. Spawned at the same flag, started placing C4, and got bombed again by the same pilot.

I used to be quite well versed at dealing with the ebb and flow of the battle, but having taken some time off, I'm finding myself really annoyed. It's not fun.

Flags are way too easy to cap/uncap. They don't really mean anything within the larger context of the round, other than being alternative spawn points. Gun accuracy is still really random. There's no cover. No such thing as a "frontline". It's utter chaos.

How did I manage to enjoy this game? I can't remember.

Ohw my.. Yeah the game maybe always be annoying but I still love it in a strange way.. I don't know why.. I hope the patch will fix some things but of course it will not fix the gameplay.. There will be a new map though and new mode without planes..

I think you've just forgot what BF2 is like. What you describe seems like very standard, normal gameplay to me. Lets not get started on the imbalance of jets, but we all know it's true, and it's very frustrating. Probably didn't help you obviously had a bad, unlucky round too.

I've not played for a while either, and the last I did play it was the Project Reality and BattleRacer mod's. I found when the ranking system is taken away and players play the mod'/game purely for the fun of it, you tend to get a better experience. Something people forget, that we played 1942 and Vietnam with no stat's, and people still played for hours, day in day out.

There were stats for BF:V, just not built in to the game.

Yes, run by independent websites that not many people knew about, I certainly don't think many people were playing for stat's at the time.

Jolt had a stat's sytem I think, and obvioulsy BFTracks.

The way stat's are now, is a totally different kettle of fish.

hmm..I like u took a couple of months of bf2 coz I had exams..but everytime i take a break i find that in a couple of weeks I will be itching to play again, then I will play for a couple more months, then stop...the process repeats itself over and over...

I guess it might be because bf 2142 is coming out soon, and I don't wanna be rusty for that..

I kinda feel the same. Played Wake today, and got pi$$ed that EVERYONE was a sniper. Aint we got past that one yet?

I didn't play at all for 2 months or so (except a minute or two after 1.3 patch installation) until last night. Can't say I noticed a staggering difference in the gameplay compared to 1.2. Performance does seem to have suffered a little, and the can't join a squad when dead thing is slightly annoying, but otherwise I enjoyed the 4 hour session of vanilla and Euro Force I managed.
The most startling thing was not one person ran in front of a jet or tked for one the whole time I was playing. That was too good to be true...

I remember I took a break from CS:S for a while because I was grumpy I was crap at it, played BF2 for a while then played more CS to find out my performance improved dramatically. I'm still crap though. My point was, maybe it works vice-versa
