    VOIP: All or Nothing?

Is there a way to ignore/silence a single player when VOIP is enabled? As far as I know it is an all or nothing deal. That is, either VOIP is enabled for all teammates or none.

Last night when I was playing a commander, a player was crabbing at me. He was using foul language and being abusive. At first I tried to communicate with him. But I soon realized that he was being selfish and trying to get his cooperation was fruitless. I asked the admins to kick the guy. The response was that if a player offends me, *I* am invited to leave. When the round ended, that is exactly what I did.

Don't know for sure but if your commander...........

Aren't only the SL's allowed to speak to you? If so I've noticed that in each squad section where you highlight them to see what objective they've been assigned,or give a particular squad a praise or rebuke, isn't there a speaker icon? I've clicked on it and an "X" appears over the icon when I did. I would think this is you as the commander, muting that squad leader.

      Wrong? Correct?

you should have dropped a vehicle on him.

When commander, you're SOL. There is no way to silence a single Squad Leader.

When you're in a squad, you can silence individual squad members by clicking on the speaker icon in the squad listing.

Uhm, that brings up an intersting concept. Kicking a SL from the squad for not following orders or being abusive. In the military, that is not accepted to talk to a comander that way. He would be relived and be working at McDonalds.

Then what's the "X" over the speaker icon for each squad do? Nothing when you place it there?

If it doesn't mute the SL, then what does it do?

Just curious, I made the assumption it was a mute, because it seemed logical.

If he is distrating you, give him orders. Go here, go there, go here, go there, follow orders! Follow orders!

Yes it's childish, but it will show that you have more ability to be annoying if he keeps attracting your attention.

Oh yes, do not get the commander's attention - at lest not in a negative way. Because if he knows what he's doing he can make your game go to hell

There is no "X" or speaker icon on the CO command screen. Here's a pic of the pre-1.3 screen.

The boxes are for the kits/vehicles of squad members. The box with the green check in it denotes an order was given to the SL and accepted.

I have the same screen with a speaker pict in the space next to the green check. If I click on the speaker, I can get it to have a red X on it. I don't know if this means I won't hear him or he can't hear me on a transmit to all channel.

If it's on your screen then I'll stand corrected. I'll check that out later though I've never found it to be a problem. If anything, I wish SL would use VOIP more to communicate with me when I'm commander. Assuming it works like the squad listing, putting an "X" there mutes that squad leader. Whether or not it mutes your commands to him - who cares?

I'll post a screenie later and experiment tonight to see if it doesn cut the speaker off. I have TS and in game running so I'll be able to verify.

Thank god someone else sees it, I thought I was going nuts. Getting old sucks, you start to doubt yourself sometimes.

I was going to check and see if it was there last night, but I dont' go for commander unless the job is unoccupied into the first few minutes of the server. That wasn't the case last night. I've got little expereince and would rather have someone who knows what their doing.

Also if I screw things up in the learning process I can say "Hey, it was no one, or me".

My first night as commander started that way, people pleaded for some one to do it. I typed a disclaimer that I had no idea what I was doing but would give it a shot. Didn't find the zoom function till the last minute of the round. But it was much more fun and challenging then I thought it would be.
