    Guiding TV missile with joystick

    Hi all,

This may be asked before but I didn't find answer with a quick search. So is it possible somehow to set missile guiding to be handled with joystick? I'm asking this because latelly there has been many cases where nobody wants to be a gunner ( especially in AF), and I hate switching from joystick to keyboard+mice when trying to solo TV. I tried to configure it in the game, but all I managed to do was bond F1 and F2 buttons to joystick. When trying to switch to TV targetting or fire missile or even shoot with cannon nothing happens. Is it even possible?

..why would you WANT to do that? lol... Wouldn't that feel really weird?

Well.. anyways, try JoyTokey (google it if you want it). I think there is a way you can do mouse emulation with the JS.

I'm just curious how difficult would it be and then I wouldn't need to switch controller when solo flying with copter. By the way is it possible to guide missile with keyboard only?

This would be like playing an fps with a joystick, the accuracy just isn't there. A keyboard would be out of the question as well. There is a game coming out soon called Huxley, which will allow pc users to play against xbox users in internet games. Xbox users are about to get an education on the power of the mouse and keyboard.

lol, if its a FPS game then xbox users are going to get raped by high DPI laser mouse users with twitchy reflexes

I guess that by moving it to joystick would make it a lot easier to hit targets, since all you have to is kamikaze fly it into the opponent. However, you need a mouse click because it's adjusted through it.

From a good distance it would probably be ok, but for close targets and helo's you really need to adjust fast.

Huxley is an fps MMORPG that lets you gain experience and unlock various weapons and gadgets, so ya they are going to get owned.

Yeah stick is not so accurate, but you actually don't need a pinpoint accuracy to guide missile. It's a question of estimating target path and making few corrections to first guess. At least that's how I play. I'm not any super killer with TV's, I can hit ground targets pretty good, actually I don't usually miss of I get a moment to target, but other copters are tricky for me. Anyhow my current method for soloing is crappy, I need to throw the stick away, then handle keyboard (F2 to gunner seat), then grap my mouse and push few button before missile is on it's way (usually my copter is miss-aligned by then ). By using stick I would keep the same controller during pilotting and targetting. Targetting could be done by moving crosshair with stick and correcting the flight path by pressing fire button.

Don't get me wrong mice is the best instrument for guiding if there is pilot on board. There are extremelly skilled fellows flying solo and using mice but old farts like me, we all are not so handy throwing stuff around the table and still keeping control of targeting

I just bought a new stick and while calibrating it this idea hit my head. Some day I'll try JoytoKey that metallica mentioned. I'll inform how it went if someone is interested.

 thanks bro, I totally suck soloing. I really need a gunner, my count says that I've hit three times with TV totally when solo flying. That damn copter is always 180 degree of my intended target when my TV hud is finally on... Buhuhuuu....

Well when I solo, I dont really need a Joystick because I dont really need to dogfight much. So I use the keyboard arrow keys etc.

Huxley will have diffrent servers for cross platform playing (at least what Ive heard) witch you can expect to have a total of ZERO xbox users in unless they mod the 360 to use a mouse and keyboard

I guess it's up for debate. My info comes from an article in last months PC Gamer.

Ok, I tried it right away. It's almost working. Targeting seems to be too difficult for me, too fast or too slow. Damn! But anyhow now I can fire missile by joystick and first direction is almost right direction. Then I grap myt mouse and finnish the last part of the flight accuratelly

Now I'm gonna hit someone while soloing. Test it, it really is good aid. Pro-solos, don't laught, I really needed this.
