Re: Body armour, useful or not

the only time i notice body armor being effective is against nades

explosion damage is not affected at all by BF2 body armor.
are sure about that when a nade lands x meters away from me and im a medic im down to 2bars of life
but with body armor i still have 40ish % left

I've never personally played with the 4.6 or 5.7mm weapon systems, but I have used a 7.65 Tokarev solid round that punched level II vests quite easily.

I'd say the 4.6 and 5.7 DO defeat armour rated to stop 9mm handgun and SMG rounds, especially the standard 124grain FMJ at 1200fps. However you are still only poking .22 holes in your target. This is the lesser of two evils I suppose. Poke .22 holes with your 4.6/5.7 or poke NO holes with your 9mm/.45ACP/.40S&W.

However they can't defeat rifle plates, and anything a 4.6or5.7 can defeat, a 5.56mm and 7.62x39mm will blow right through.

I like your list, and I'd agree, wthe M2/M95 shoudl bypass all armour with a scale down your list to pistols/shotguns at around 30-40%. This does mean the poor shotgun is useless for chest shots, but it make headshots count for more.

As a pump shotgun user I must say it gives a warm feeling when you are going toe to toe with a PKM'er and you manage to get that 3rd shot off :)

Re: Body armour, useful or not

You notice that BF2 body armor is REAL simple, all chest shots to somebody with body armor -33% of damage. That's all there is to it, all the shabang, no penetration power or any real life sh*t. If it was real life, body armor guys would be impervious to an extent to shotguns, pistols, and SMGs (besides the P90 and MP7). And then again, 5.56 and 7.62 rounds would tear through body armor, and a 50 cal, like it is in game, will be unaffected. ANyways, i dunno if shotguns are affected, but all other weapons besides 50 cals, are just 33.33% less damage. simple as that. That actualy makes the AK47 better thant eh AK101, as teh AK47 takes down a guy with body armor with 4 chest shots, and the AK101, 5 chest shots.

Hardly. Why dont you fill your brain with some useful weapon information instead of filling the forums with nonsense?

Actually it was said on the previous page before Jdrou, one of the people who said it was me.

Before that BluePiglet brought real weapons/armour into the discussion by saying there should be a MORE pronounced effect to counter the mad weight penalty, and then we slipped into a discussion about how they could impliment a damage modification system that would be slightly more real than the blanket 33% reduction.

We never said they should impliment it, only that it could be fun if they did. Of course we had to mention real world items, this is a contemporary game that is trying to emulate contemporary weapons, so why not their effect on weapons.

Ah, thought you had it in Hybrid mode or something.

Don't mind me, its the last hour of my night shift, and I'm probably acting like an ass.
