Best first unlock?

I finally got my first unlock today (actually would have been awhile ago but I never just logged into my BF2 account, I use Qtracker) and don't know what to pick. No shotguns for me though. I mainly play as SF or Support. Both of those guns look good, but I'm leaning towards the SF weapon. What's the assualt class weopon like? I'd assume these unlocks are nationality specific as well. Am I right?

PKM = Support Unlock
or
G3 = Assault Unlock
Cant go wrong with either, you can also earn points so easily and so fast, you will get them all in no time.

unlock the weapon of the kit u play most, that should help u alot.

the unlocks are universal, it doesn't matter what team you play as. I unlocked sniper rifle first and was very glad I did. But if you don't play sniper often then it would be a wasted unlock.

I also unlocked the Spec Ops gun, and wasn't too happy with it (I miss the laser scope... part of the same drive that makes me love the sniper kit I guess). My next will probably be the support gun.

Have a look at the medic L85A1. Has a scope with a red dot and a little zoom. Awsome weapon. Next choice is the PKM though I prefer to use the 2nd support gun myself. I've got SF so I grabbed 2 weapons at a time.
I went 2 sniper rifles 1st. Bad choice I soon worked out.
Then the G3 and the L85. I still like the L85.
Next was The 2 support weapons.

Does it really has a red dot? Strange.. I think your Battlefield 2 differs from mine then *ehum*

My first unlock was I thought the G36E. I chosed that thing to get a lot of points (Medic of course.. ) PKM is also a good weapon but I always choose RPK when I'm MEC just PKM for USMC.

But just choose the unlocks you like. I play Medic,Sniper & Assault a lot but I would choose the unlock that fits your mostly chosen kit..

It's no big deal, first few unlocks come really easy unlike what it was at retail.

Yeah I like the G3. I've been playing it for a while. No grenade launcher but it's got much more stopping power than the M16 and it's actually quite nice to have grenades instead of a launcher.

I unlocked the F2000 the other night but I'm undecided as to whether I like it nor not.

I would have said G36C if Spec Ops didnt get nerfed.

PKM is nice but youll love it or hate it..it isnt a "regular" stand a shoot gun...make insta prone your friend.
G3..unless your accurate some body with a bigger clip will smoke you.
L85..crap..IMO crapiest medic gun, G36E best gun ingame..only rival is the AK series.
If I was you..Id say get the M95 so you have a sniper rifle for matches your PLA or MEC since you wont have the M24..and if that doesnt sound good get the DAO-12, much better then any standard AT gun.

Last resort as a good "assualt" first unlock..G36C..basically its the best gun in the game (G36E) toned down. Youll basically be a medic with a weaker gun and C4 instead of insta heals.

The G3 is a killing machine. Well I guess technically all the weapons in the game are machines which kill ...... but the G3 puts most of them to shame. I was never really that great as the assault kit before, but once I picked that puppy up I went from going 1:1 or 1:2 to 3:1 and 4:1 kill ratios.

If you play as support a lot though, I'd probably recommend the PKM first. Also has excellent stopping power, and is a marked improvement over the M249 SAW. A pretty decent upgrade (for me, at least) over the QBZ, though I still do use that from time to time. But while MEC, I always still use the RPK; so if you play a lot of MEC support, I might just stick with that, 'cuz it's so awesome as it is.

g3 hands down! Just be sure you use your ammo wisely and make sure a support guy is nearby at all times .

If I was limited to using only one unlock, it'd be the G3. It's a beast, but you have to employ it on semi-auto and leave the full rock & roll setting for those close alleyway encounters.

The SpecOps G36C is also very nice...far more accurate than a carbine has a right to be. I've sniped snipers off the roof near the mosque all the way from the roof near the hotel on Mashtuur with the G36C. I didn't care for that rifle too much at first, but it's really grown on me. Still, the G3 owns all if you know how to use it.
