Without cheating, I don't see how it's possible to get 20 IAR under any reasonable, typical circumstances.

I think they should change the engineer repair points too be like the medic heals. 1/2 health for 1 point, so taking something from dead to full armor would be 2 points. Thats why there are so few engies...there is no reward for doing the job and the shotguns aren't really that great if you run into an enenmy that is more than an arms length away. Poor engies get shat on.

Also, even though AT mines now don't kill your friends (or i don't think they do), they only last as long as you live, which sucks.

          Re: Were Repair Points Nerfed?

I have Vet engineer. Got it as commander on Gulf of Oman. Enemy spec ops kept blowing up the MEC assets, and I as cmdr would let him, then go repair them. But that was only 10 points in a round. 20 seems very very difficult.

I think I got close to 20 one day on a Warlord High Points server. I was patrolling the back of the palace in an APC. Spec Ops kept blowing assets. I kept repairing. I wouldn't shoot him, cuz he was helping me get repair points. Well, I shot him once when he tried to C4 me. The idiot didn't realize that me repairing them was giving him the opportunity to blow them up again and get more points for himself.

But, that was on a HIGH POINTS server, which in some ways, is like stat padding. I mean, technically its not, but if you're a purist, you would want to play the game on normal rules.

So, I agree with most here, it is virtually impossible to get 20/round under NORMAL circumstances.

Yeah, see if you can find a server for like 64 players, but only polulated by the minimum number. Id doesn't have to be a "high score", but the longer it gives you, the more time you have to get those bloody IAR points.

Yea, and the minimum amount of people will mostly all be using vehicles, so it's gonna be easy to find stuff to repair.

                Re: Were Repair Points Nerfed?

Yeah, since the days of the BH being the god vehicle they nerfed repairing...on a good day I can get 6-8 repair points on a map...and that's usually if I'm doing nothing but running around repairing and get lucky and have spec ops regularly coming back to our base and destroying assets.

I have my veteran repair...and am cringing at trying to figure out how to get my expert (20 repair points in a round)....honestly without cheating I don't know if it'd be even possible (not that I'd cheat....just trying to work out how it could be done legitimately)

I've been working on all my vet badges these days and getting 10 repair points is one of tht toughest I've come across. Getting point for repairing vehicles is hard, cause no one ever wants to stay still long enough to get repaierd. and unless you have some dedicated spec-ops guys on the oposing team (especially if you are USMC) the arty uav and scan don't seem to get blown up often enough. I've been trying as PLA on Wake cause being in a cappable base makes them a little more accessible, but the fighting around the airfield just gets you ass shot more often. It just damn tough to get 10 IAR.

I got the 10 for vet badge, back in October, only way to do get 20 points repairing now would be to stat pad, and it isn't that important to me.
expert is doable in the right situation like i got mine on Sharqi 64 with only about 20 players on it, they kept destroying the commander assets i kept reparing them, You do have to almost forget about fighting though cause dieing can delay you enough to miss out on getting the repair points...

My best in a round was 17, I think. It was a 64 player Sharq map and I was US. All I did was stay back at the main US spawn, repairing arty, UAV, and Sat. 'cause the MEC commander was going crazy with cartillery. It seemed like every 30 seconds or so, another US asset was destroyed. If I had been doing it from the beginning of the round, I bet I could have gotten over 20 repair points. Course, I still wouldn't have gotten expert repair since I am way short onthe required number of hours, but it was nice to know that it is physically possible to do.

                          Re: Were Repair Points Nerfed?

Getting the vet should be easy, getting the expert was a pain.

Armored convoys (only you as engineer is best, but convoy won't last as long as if all are engineers) on big maps with 30 people or less should allow enough time. Throw in a random asset repair (keep your eye on the assets) should be enough to get the veteran. Note, I am pretty sure that the repair time for repairing vehicles from a a vehicle with an engineer has increased so surviving making it easier to die even in a convoy.

Cartillary is also an easy way as you can get more than one point on an asset that hasn't been fully healed before being destroyed again (seems to go into some sort of negative health points). The types of commanders will cartillary non-stop throughout a round (vodniks are easier than hummers, so play US). This probably going away with the next patch, so time is running out on this option.

Another option is on the AF maps similar to the old BH strategy using the little bird. Pilot must be medic (passengers take a lot of damage) and you as a passenger can repair the chopper. in flight just like the BH. Plan on getting shot out, but the medic should be able to deal with the wounding.

I got my expert on Warlord 64 player map with about 40 people where there was a steady stream of spec ops running back to the UK uncap. The MEC side won't work if the palace changes hands throughout the round. I got the 20th point with about 10 seconds left in the round, so it wasn't a slam dunk.

[QUOTE=Johnny Schockerr]I have no problem getting any badges, except basic repair. I've played hours as an engineer, but I still rarely get any repair points. Does anyone have a clue?

I play Wake Island to gain my repair points. All the time someone will blow up the artillery, UAV or other things. Stand to the side of a tank or APC at Karkand this will give you some good points keep on fixing them, Best to play as MEC as the US will go straight to the main base of the MEC and blowing things up just have to be quick making sure you have plenty of covering firing from your team mates. This is how I intend to gain my expert badge. Just a case of playing the engineer correctly remembering that he can fix items only when everyone is covering him.

I heard another way to do it. It takes 2 engineers though. Get a vodnik, drive crazy and get it to flip over. Both engineers start repairing it. I haven't tried it, but I heard you can just keep repairing it the entire round.

I think warlord is the best bet for getting 20. find a 64 player server with around 40 people. there is alot of tank vs tank action, plus you need to have enemy specop's intent on keeping your assets down. I hit 25 repairs once there, but that was before 1.3 and I didnt have my 100hrs eng. at the time.
