Is anyone botherd about the range of the US Essex, its pathetic, i got past south base and it still shot me down with a missle lock. if there's one thing they need to change its that decrease the range.

Maybe make the Essex incredibly powerful but more short-ranged, to prevent base raping? The only time I go on the carrier is to repair damaged systems and fight boarders, so I'm not too familiar with how carrier raping usually goes, but I know it is a huge problem. Well the CIWS is at least good for mowing the deck clean of boarders and campers. . . :evil:

**** no. And the guns arent weak. Used in the right hands they PWN. I have taken down SO may J10s with it. They come in point blank and I just blow the **** out of em. And the missles go far. If they lock on to you within the 400 m range and you fly outside of it they WILL follow you.

i always wait for the flares to run out first then shoot the remaining missiles, after all, the essex has 8.... evasive? nah, 8 is much more than enough to shoot a jet down, unless it shoot me first.. :P

are you kidding me? I flew a J10 and dodged 22 missles. 6 from the F35, 8 from both essexes. Seriously easy as hell to dodge missles from the essex. Just turn right before they hit and you will dodge it. Just got to have some fluidity. But for some reason IGLA missles ALWAYS hit. (which is good, thats how it should be)

I think it's fine, we've got enough base rapers on 2007 anyway, why make it easier to bomb?

As for your South Base problem...Don't fly straight, always swerve and bounce.

I think they need to give it more armor, though. An AT missile shouldn't be able to take it down in one hit. It needs to be able to withstand some jet firepower.

I never had a problem with the Essex, but I hate it because it blows up so easily. Can't even last in there.

these things need to happen for air combat to be balanced and still fun.

-anti air missiles that are properly lead and are on target should not deviate on some airframes. (j10)

-on some airframes, flares should be intercepted by anti air missiles when the flares are in the anti air missiles flight path (f35)

-anti air missiles range should be just out of max visual range (for all platforms)

-the laser guide on the bomber should be able to lock onto targets well above visual range

-instead of blowing up when the tv guided missile runs out of time, it should keep flying forward unguided.

if these things happened we would have a fair playing field between air and ground and air to air.

the range is less than visual range, which means no the range isnt fine at all. why do i say that, because the essex is supposed to defend the carrier, hell all aa is supposed to be a weapon that wards off planes and destroys them if they do a frontal attack. basically, the aa isnt doing that job.

Ever try to snake strike? When you stall at low altitudes and point the nose directly up and then while pushing the nose down and high-tailing at high speeds to "Trick" the missle? That works in fair occasions.

it was seriously weak in the patch before 1.3 since 1.3 hit its bin shootin down loads of planes not including myself.

LOL...that is lame. that is the only weapon the US has to defend itself when the carrier is getting raped. No, they did not make it all all super powerful, it's the same as it ever was. I'm also one of the ones that has never been shot down by it. I say leave it alone and move along...Nothing to see here. :laugh2:
