No really all you do is turn right before they hit when you are in a j10 and they just bounce off. Lmao in my many hours of playing Wake Island I have NEVER seen a missle from the essex hit a J10 while it was going full thruster and flarin and trying to 'swerv' like you say. So to reiterate you suck. It is ridiculously easy to do so. ITS A J10. Now stop ****ing complaining and shut the **** up.
The essex gun (phalanx) is the gun that is stationed on the carrier. Again all you need is some fluidity. A barrel roll here etc. And btw, you should probably know what a barrel roll actually is before you talk some more ****. It is twisting the joystick along with tilting it. Not just tilting it.

You shouldn't baserape on Wake Island Bloodhound as you are talking about Wake Island. 80% of the games I play, I play Wake island. The USS Essex range isn't overnerfed or something like that and it shouldn't be nerfed or something ohw my..

Well if your with the chopper at boat-island (You know what I mean right) The USS Essex can't get a lock on you but still can shoot (Not missiles but the gun..) *It's very un-precise though..*

If you do not get at the carrier then you should be safe. Usually baserapers are close the the USS Essex. So just back-off from the carrier with your J10 or w/e you were flying in..

And another thing those missiles are so damn easy to avoid.. I think you could even do a simple barrrel roll with flares and they would go away..

So my conclusion is.. You were baseraping/You were in a strange situation/You just suck

that rarely happens.. the other team would have to steal the f35 in order for that to happen.

thats not the point, the point is that regaurdless of how you manuver or if/when you flare, aa missiles will take the f35 down, (period)

You gotta stop flying into the airdefense engagement zone.

Approach the carrier from the bow area where the ship itself masks you from being seen until it's too late.

Or approach it from above and dive about 70-80 degrees steep taking out the airdefense. Then you can come around and feast on the soft and chewy noobs waiting on the deck instead of using any number of boats.

The gun is not as powerful as it used to be but more than adequate in certain engagement profiles.

Actually the essex machine gun is quite powerful if used correctly. I was stunned the first time I got shot down. The key to beating the missiles is to find the blind spot where the essex guns can't cover each other so you want to be in that spot. Then you just fly really fast and do some evasive stuff and you'll never get hit. Watch the rear to see the missile coming but don't crash in the water.

Heavy552 is dead right, now I go up 600-700 then dive down guns blazing. 2nd and 3rd pass is feasting time. If I still got the juice I climb back up and shoot down the essex when it respawns on my 4th pass. Then I just keep going till I'm out of ammo. It works on every map not just wake.

Here's an idea before you whine about how weak the essex is put one on the chinese airfield.

it was seriously weak in the patch before 1.3 since 1.3 hit its bin shootin down loads of planes not including myself.

LOL...that is lame. that is the only weapon the US has to defend itself when the carrier is getting raped. No, they did not make it all all super powerful, it's the same as it ever was. I'm also one of the ones that has never been shot down by it. I say leave it alone and move along...Nothing to see here. :laugh2:

Ever try to snake strike? When you stall at low altitudes and point the nose directly up and then while pushing the nose down and high-tailing at high speeds to "Trick" the missle? That works in fair occasions.
