thats what I've been thinking too. If anyone ever played GTA:SA, you'll know they have little 3-level stunt schools for bikes, cars, and planes. I think BF2 could have incorporated that into a single player 'campaign' taht would give you sufficient training and skill in particular vehicles in order to 'unlock' the use of them, hell you could even receive point bonus or badges or whatever to encourage people to get better.

And why do YOU guys like flying the jets? Is it the "l33t p01ntz?" Why do you have more right to fly than anyone else? In that 2 minutes of flight, those "n00bs" are having fun. It sounds like you guys are getting too jaded to enjoy this game anymore.
If the whole team is sitting there waiting for a jet, that's how they choose to play the game. If it's your team, yeah, that sucks to be you. If it's the other team, you're almost guaranteed a win. This is a freakin' game, meant to be used for fun. When all you can think about is how "n00bish" your teammates are, how can you be having fun.
Maybe you could just go play GRAW or CS:S? I hear everyone in CS:S is super 1337! You'll be much better off with your own kind.

Well, I flew a lot in BF 1942 and in BFV a little less.
In BF2 I enjoy a good round in a plane or chopper.
But after two, three or even one round when I died I spawn at a other spawnpoint and help my team there. SO other ppl. can get the chopper and plane to have some fun themselves.
And I can say that it's not a big deal if you have a decent Joystick and a few rounds of pratice.

But instead of making it harder it should remain as it is.

That is the whole intention of Battlefield. Everything is controlable because it's a action game and not a simulation.

As I said in a other topic before, ppl. who claim themself as pilots or think they have the only right to fly a plane chopper should be kicked immediately.

Unfortunately the spawn routine of BF allows such ppl. to get in a plane over and over. But then again, it's the sandbox gameplay which makes the game this much fun.
So the more rules and regulations you add the more unenjoyable it will get.

A classic dilemma so to speak.

Plus you had to figure out different gun leads because of server pings. It's 10 times worse than it was in '42 because the planes move faster, so gunning down a turning plane is something very tedious. Maybe you enjoyed that 20-minute arm workout, but I didn't. Infact, if anything, it made the better pilots more effective and the semi-average start getting shot down.

That's what I'm saying. This would take those people off of the runway holding their "use key" while 4 other guys are trying to bump them out of the spawn area, and it would put those people out in the fighting.

Uhm, that's how it was before. A good pilot would not get shot down by someone worse than them. Average pilots should get shot down by better pilots. In any case, the better pilot should be the one that comes out alive. It's not that way anymore, almost any kid in the J10 can get behind the F35 wait for flares then unload 3 missiles. Back in the day you had to anticipate their moves, sneek up behind them, then wait for the perfect time to tear them apart, and they don't even know what hit them. Then I would come up on an equally adept pilot(uses hat switch, good awareness ect) and it would be a long fight sometimes ending with no victor, and that was fun, even if it ment I didn't get a single kill in 5-10 minutes.

I think if they added lines it would add to even more bitching. What happens when your next in line and on your way to the hangar another jets destroys yours? Now youve got another person complaining.

Also, its like saying "Hey EA, we arent mature enough to manage vehicles on our own. Will do you it for us mommy?"

I think the best way to solve the vehicle problem is to make vehicle driver classes and pilot classes. It would work just like the commander. People would apply and one person would be picked. He would then become the pilot for that team. Only he could get into the plane and fly it. There would be another position for the helicopter, the gunner, the tanker, and laver, and so on. No one would have to fight over it.

but what happens if you get one of those pilots that does absolutely nothing to benefit the team?

Simple like applying for commander, just have a vehicle menu come up and have apply buttons under the pictures of each vehicle. When it's your turn, you spawn IN that vehicle, and the vehicle is locked and nobody else can jump in it for up to 10 seconds. Similar to how commander offers time out.

This would get all of the plane/tank/chopper campers out in the battle. When it's their turn they hit accept and they're put in the vehicle.
or we can have an actually waiting like that allow u to inter it only from 1 spot. just like when ur waiting for rollercoasters .

Having a small amount of planes is part of the game. Any good pilot in a plane is helping his team, not that he has too in the first place. Not much one can do but shot down other planes, or bomb flag cappers. If a noob gets in a plane dont worry about it. He'll crash soon enough. If u can never get a plane I suggest going to 64 player fly maps that only allow up to 16 players. thats where I go, and I always get a plane.

I just wish they devised a way to make it so that people don't teamkill you once you get in the jet. Maybe not able to be teamkilled until you get off the runway?

                              Hi all

I've been on several servers which impose rules which disallow queuing for aircraft, or queue jumping. Indeed my own server has a spam message 'encouraging' people to get into battle and help their team rather than wait for a plane that's already in the sky.

Sure enough, some people can't even last 20 secs in the air. But even still, hanging about at the end of the runway, hands in pockets, juggling the jewels, is such a waste of time (and surely boring !).

I don't think this 'issue' can, or should. be fixed programatically. I'd rather they fix the serious issues we already have.

I think a some polite server spams/rules can do the job quite easily. It might not always be easy to police, but it's all we have.

                              Anyway that's my 2p.

Re: They should've devised a waiting line system for vehicles.

I can see it now. The hangars would look like a line at Disneyland where people are waiting in line for one of the rides. 30% of the team waiting idly in the hangar in a line moving about as fast as the customs check-in at LAX. And what would happen to your place in line if the enemy managed to kill you while waiting?

The appropriate answer to the "problem" is to find a server properly admin'd and populated with respectful players who honor the "don't cut in line" code. They do exist. No amount of rules, restrictions or guidelines will eliminate the childish behavior prevalent online today. The only hope is to catch-em and boot-em on a case-by-case basis.
