I still dont understand why all servers dont use the ingame voip I prefer its setup over teamspeak.

I don't use it often because I don't like having to hold down a key to speak

It IS a great idea though..and it works. Great for public players.

I use a private TS server because I'm ALWAYS online with friends. The down side to that is, everybody on TS hears my cursing.

Well in game, It says the Commander has given me orders, Yet i have no idea what they are??

how do i find out what my orders are?
Do i get additonal points or anything for completing the orders?

Yes, sadly there is a lack of really good servers. Here is one that I play at exclusively...

It is admined by all people that are at least 21 and mature. We always use in game voice (VOIP) and issue/follow orders. Keep in mind that the server usually doesnt get going to till about 8pm central time. Welcome to the Battlefield.

I can't hear people when they use VOIP and VOIP doesn't allow for binds to other squads or Channel commander. I've used a Push to Talk hotkey for two years now for bf games, caps lock.

BF2 pubbing is sandbox, do anything for yourself, how can you expect people who just want to mess around to do anything involving teamwork when the games design is basicaly shouting go mess around at them for public play? Go join a clan or a tourney and find your organized fun that way instead of with the common masses.

Ok, if you are the squad leader, the commander can give you orders. You can either accept or ignore these rules by pushing page up to accept or page down to reject. Once you hit page up, it will give you a little symbol on your mini map with a line to it. Typically, these are attack orders with a small orange sword symbol and an orange line from your present location, to wherever he wants you to attack. Tip, you can zoom your mini map in and out with the N key. You can also look at the whole map by hitting M.

As a squad leader you can also issue orders to your squad by hitting caps lock to bring up the map, right click on a flag lets say, and then select the appropriate order, like attack.

You get no additional points for completing orders. But, as long as the commander isnt an idiot, he should have some idea about what he is talking about, and give you a logical order. Some commanders though, are fairly hands off, and do not give direct orders to squads. I tend to be like this when I command, as I use voice to give them orders or tell them where the enemy is.

1. Flying requires no real skill. It just requires some practice.
People who claim to be pilots and camp airfileds/helipads should be shot on sight even if that is counted as TK.

2. BF is and always was a game where you could fight on land, in air and on water. That is were the fun lies. That is why I like the game.
Ppl. who claim a certain part of the game for themselves should either be kicked from public servers or should buy their own server and password -protect them.

You could say the problem comes with the ppl. thinking they have to call themself pilots or that the game doesn't offer a way to get rid of those ppl. with like say flying tickets or spawn control.

Either way it's a problem which plagues BF since 1942.

You can request orders by pressing T and selecing "Request Orders." But as far as other people following orders, there is no way you can know unless you are commander.

Well,

I will opening admit that i totally suck at the game, But i do follow instructions well and i do attempt to play at my best!

For example yesterday while playing i was told to hang back and watch one of the flags that where way away from the action, not fond of it as well to be honest kind of hard to get a score when there is nothing to shoot at! But what ever i did, Grabbed the sniper gear and found a comfy place and sat there, Listened to some music bored out of my mind. Well people where spawning.. i was being told off as i was not doing anything.. i advised them i was instructed to do this and they still insulted!

Finally about 10 Min's later I'm all alone and a APC hulls up to our Flag everyone ways miles away!! I called for backup and over about a 2 min span i was able to pick off all 3 players in the APC. Weird as its only a game but it was a exciting feeling!

i can see why 3/4 of the team is waiting for a jet or helo, cause its more fun killing **** with them. i love taking the helo and having everyone waiting for me to die so they can get it next but i dont end up dieing, and by the time i do die, they got so bored waiting that they went to go play infantry so i can have the helo again. im super awesome. i personally could care less about winning or losing, just having fun. and being in a helo is fun for me.

step2ice. There is nothing wrong with excelling at one aspect of the battlefield that you enjoy. There is skill involved in all aspects of this game. Practice of course makes everyone better at anything!

Of course, just standing around at an airfield for ten minutes doing nothing certainly is pretty lame. I typically just stay away from airfields for this very reason. I fly decently well, but there are plenty of people that think its the only thing you can do in this game. They need to branch out and try some other things. As you mentioned, thats what make the game great as well. There are so many things to do and try and excel in. Everyone finds their niche, but its good to be flexible too.
