My name is skwurl in BF2 and you would not believe the number of people who mispell it.

I constantly get 'Hey skwerl, sup sqwrl, yo squirrel (which is funny because the proper spelling of squirrel is actually tricky to get right)'.

This is indeed a phenomenon that I find interesting.

I guess for many people it comes from a background in other games - Diablo, warcraft, etc.
Or interest in phantasy, sci-fi books, movies, characters.
Just a guess.

I think it has more to do with the fact that their ACTUAL persona is as non-threatening as a little teddy bear so they put on the guise of "DeathLordofFire" to get a slight boost of ego.

After all, what sniper, while prancing down a hallway on Warlord doesnt love to see "DarkBloodDevil666 [Claymore] Johnboy1979"

When you pick agame name, either pick a name that relates to you in some way or pick something creative/funny... otherwise, you just look like a doofus.
