I posted some of the things I use when figuring out the numbers required when I snipe over 200 meters in the SC-forums just now --> Clix Meh <--

The 453 meters kill was on Dragon Valley in a counter-sniper battle. I could barely make out the guy in the fog which is around 450 I think in DV. The other sniper was quite good btw because he was using the Type88 and he landed one hit on me.

Cool, thanks for the link.

And I'm surprised he could even see you with the Type-88, since the scope on that doesn't zoom as far as the bolt-action rifles, so I guess he must have been pretty good.

Yea, Id definantly like to know where you get the stats for kills made in prone, standing, and kneeling as well as their distances. Those stats could be a useful analyzer =)

It is NOT the kit that is bad for teamwork but your playing STYLE

I have gotten many teamwork points as a sniper in a squad
I stick with my squad usually unless it is spread across the map.
I lay clamores in strategic positions so my squadmates have one less place to watch.
I take out the lone Spec. Ops going for my team's tank
I shoot at the enemy who is shooting at you lowering his health to 4 or 2 bars.
I capture flags with my squad
I play squad leader and hang back from the fight so my squadmates have a safe place to spawn.
I take out an entire squad with my rifle, pistol, and nades.
I will switch kits if the situation calls for it
Snipers are a huge addition to the team IF they get into the action, join a squad, etc.

In real life the sniper is a coveted occupation. In games it has a bad name and is shunned.

Just because I don't walk around with life-giving shock paddles or ammo bags doesn't mean I am not a team player

A camping sniper can be fine if they know where to do it and when. I've played nothing but sniper since this thread was created to see what all the fuss was about and to test out some of the beliefs put forward here.
I can assume people that the sniper kit is not a weak team-play kit, all the stuff above as to how to help your team really works and even me (an average player at best) can get a good score in games playing nothing but sniper.

A combat sniper (mixes in with everyone) has the greatest potential for amassingpoints but need to play it right to not be the 'easy target'. A ranged sniper can defend key locations effectively on their own and without a vehicle as well as offer long range fire and spotting support.

I'm starting to think that the Assault kit is potentially one of the weakest for team play as all they have to offer the team is getting to the flag first, which is just a matter of how you playing, and not the kit.

Combat Sniper = Designated Marksman
Ranged Sniper = Scout Sniper

yea im on ur side entertainer, i liek u are a sniper but not 1 that sites a mile of picking off afk privates. although sniper may not be the best at runing in and mowing down 5 people at CQC but they are great at...
1) spotting enemies and warnign team about them
2) suppresing fire, even a inaccurate sniper can fire a few rounds and make an enemy scared enough to hide somewhere and be useless
3) defending bases, believe it or not a well trained sniper can stop the hordes in there tracks, a few well placed claymores and a loaded pistol does the job good.
4)attacking bases, snipers unlike most dont usually want to be in CQC and will often go about capping flags with no1 there
5) grenades, all good sniper will be good at grenades, with out a decent close range weapon wat better to do to rip apart a whole squad than well placed grenade. alot of other kits(especially support) lauch grenades randomly as they are almost dead or hoping to get a kill but rarely do)
6) helicopters, snipers who use the upgrade sniper can shoot through enemy cockpits of not just helicopters but jets, a well placed sniper can camp an enemy airfield/carrier and kill any1 in aircraft. therefor eletting your air OWN.

if you think sniping is boring you either arnt very good or youre vs'ing a nooby team who cant catch a base on such maps as wake or clean sweep. sorry for spelling mistakes i couldnt be bothered to go back and check. i would also like more info on these sniper groups.

Uhm...You have not sniped muc huh? Just ask the enemy next time to stand still for a head shot Or you can say. "Hey, look at me" And while he aims at you, cap him with a head shot

I dont see why everybody is against snipers ;s sniping takes skills, hitting somebody on the head in movement and jumping is goddamn hard

Only a few guys stand doing nothing so u can hit them in the head easily

There are other classes on a higher lvl of cheapness

I agree. Most people are smart enough to keep moving and jump in an open space while sprinting
