I think wolfgang has had a few too many incidences of walking into claymores or being on the receiving end of some headshots with no idea where they came from. Yes, snipers who sit on their ass all day are useless.

some people are not useless when sniping. i think having a guy come over global chat and say something along the lines of "christ, [insert name here], youd be dead half a dozen times by now if it wasnt for that &%*&^ sniper" is a sign that yes, the sniper is contributing.

Strong argument to its contrary is easy. First off, any kit, no matter how gloriously deadly, is worthless if they dont defend or attack a flag when its turning. Second, the fact that you only die 1 out of 5-8 times by sniper doesnt symbolise the lacking abilities of the sniper class, it could also mean that there simply arent that many snipers that play in comparison to the rest of the opposing team (Im sure at that time in the game it was particularly true). Just how often do you get killed by an engineer afterall? Third, sniper class is importent due even to the simple fact that the other team has snipers themselves. Most oftentimes (especially after the needed accuracy upgrade) its only a sniper that can kill a sniper but a sniper can kill just about anyone, especially if there a decent shot (and those do exist). Fourth, I dont think its just me but I know that I have completely stopped the advances of entire squads (yes working together) by myself because I am a decent shot and can hit them and kill them even while running thus forcing them to stay under cover and not be able to advance at all. If need be this buys me adequate time to get backup or to simply slow thier movements. Furthermore, its a very demoralizing kit for the other team. If a good sniper is picking off people left and right youll notice a behavioral change in the opposing team, they will avoid ANY open ground at all.

The sniper kit is primarilly a defensive kit, intended to keep a flag cleared as they can pick people off from a long way so they dont even get a chance to get close (even in the smaller vehicles). Not many people are fast or accurate enough to do sniping at close range but they do exist and believe me they are the most lethal on the team because they have the most powerful infantry gun in the game period.

Anyway, you missed the major points of the write-up and your response lacks accordingly. The suggestion was that "sniper-style" players would be more effective, and more versatile, with other kits.

I feel strongly about it because I often play like a sniper, reserved and patient, but I use the spec ops kit, which allows me to contribute in other ways - as opposed to sitting around in my fuzzy suit and sticking my thumb up my ass when armor shows up.

Never works does it? But always seems to be the first reaction upon my review of the situation and acceptance of my now tiny bullet.
If he's an idiot it's worth a try to claymore him if you get close and he jumps out thinking your C4ing it. But yeah, rarely. Stupid fluffy bunny suit.

I think you're wrong...oh no wait, I know you're wrong. But, like most other people you just assume that the reason I don't like something is because I get killed a lot by it, even though I never once said anywhere in any of my posts that I keep getting headshotted out of nowhere or anything even remotely similar. :laugh: gibberish. nah mate, dont stress, i was just takin the p1ss outta you precisely because of that reason, most people whine when they get owned a lot. I reckon across the world there oughta be lessons in other countries senses of humour, cos i swear to gawd nobody gets the aussie SOH.

Anyways, like i did continue on to say before, all too often you got so many snipers running round like the sheep that had the wool pulled over its eyes. It is rare to come across good, acceptable ones. But, personally i think they do have a role, even the noobs, if they know how to spot. they do get a lot more zoom than other classes, hence the ability to spot accurately from farther away. which does come in handy on a team operating well together, which is another story in and of itself.

@ Lazza66, this happens when you start a thread on this forum with Sniper in the title. All the noobs come out of the woodwork declaring it to be the worst class, no teamplayers, no skill, easy knive kills, etc etc ...

But all that hatred towards the class/kit doesnt make any difference for me personally. I couldnt care less what is being typed here. I just make some nice 20/30 kills per round, protect some assets/flags and cover my team/squad and say thank you very much at the end of the evening.

Oh don't get me wrong, they do have a role (of sorts) and they aren't worthless (I don't think I ever mentioned they were worthless but I CBA to go back and find all my posts in this thread right now so if I ever once said that they were worthless I apologise). My point was, and still remains, that of the seven classes, they have the least amount of overall teamwork ability in the game. That's it. Sure, a good sniper like Jemme will be much more useful than a n00b medic that revives his teammates in front of a tank, but that comes down to a player-by-player assessment, and has little to do with the kit. Sure, sniper seems to be the most newb class in the game (not because it's easy to do, but because new players seem to gravitate towards it) and consequently most of the snipers you see are newer players who don't know how to play the game well. But those players aren't what I'm referring to, and I'm actually not referring to the good players, either. I'm referring to the kit based on what it brings to the table in terms of overall teamplay, and yes, again, it has it's uses - it's not useless - but compared to the other six kits it has the least to offer teamplay-wise.

Oh, and don't worry about the SOH, mate. I have a bit of a dry sense of humour myself, which usually offends people but you seem to be take it all in stride, so props to you.

See, that's the right attitude to have, because he does help his team (again, not saying that the OP or other snipers don't) and he plays his game the way he wants, regardless of what other people think.

Although I must wonder where you get your numbers from, because 18387 / 2761 is roughly 6.7, not 20-30. Of course, maybe 20% of those rounds were ones where you were only there half the round, so with about a 10% variance it'd be more of 18387 / 2485, which would still only be 7.4. Where is the 20-30 coming from, exactly?

And with over 420 hours as a lone wolf, I wouldn't imagine you cover your 'squad' all that often, either.
