2 Questions - 1 License, 2 Cheaters

Hi,

I've only been playing this game for a few weeks...and am addicted!

I have 2 questions:

1 - I work away during the week and am wondering if I can install the same game on a laptop as my home PC so I can play during the week on the laptop, and when at home on my PC.

2 - I have heard that people cheat - several times ive been killed by 1 bullet (sometimes killed as the player goes into prone i.e. before theyve even fired! Are these cheaters, or is it something to do with lag? Also, how do I ensure that i play against fair people - dose punkbuster ensure this?

...You get to play BF2 in work? God I hate people like you, I have to mix buckets of plaster for moody builders all bastard week.

There are a few cheaters but overall it's not a big problem, usually they get banned from good servers relatively quickly and they can be reported/have their stats erased. Some people are just ace shots though, so it's more likely that you've been pwned by some clever arse than h4xed to death.

Welcome to BF2 anyway, watch out for those ****ing claymores.

Haha! Great Picture! I have some from the Champ League parade in Liverpool!

I can play it in the hotel at night though!!!!! (Except Wednesday when I usually watch the G-Force run rings around makele and kick Chelsea out of the Champions League....haha!).

Glad that's the case - sometimes I get wacked so often in the game - I can only get 30 pts or so, best has been 80, but on some cases onlyl 10!

It's a great game, there are some gripes though:
1 - why can't they postpone your respawn at a base until the arty has finished - I hate respawning to just die immediately!
2 - Whay can't they set the servers up with options such as "no vehicles" instead of just stating them in the rules for people to ignore?
3 - Stop bunnyhopping once and for all!

Back to the riginal Q - am I able to install this on the laptop even though I only have one key? The installs will be mutually exclusive!

you can install it on lots of computers, as long as you arent trying to play from 2 at the same time.

Ah I was there mate! Round by Limestreet, the greatest few days of my life.

Lolz at making Frank Lampard cry in semi-finals, I'll never ever get bored of it.

When I started playing BF2 I wasn't very good at all, used to wonder into arty attacks with complete aloofness, friendly or otherwise. Mid-table obscurity was my optimistic objective.

Hmm, nothing more annoying than spawning into a base rape, but I doubt they'll ever postpone a respawn because of it. Bunnyhopping is massively gay, we agree there.

Anyway if you have a hella quick laptop I can't see why not. Just install the game, log in with the same account and you're laughing and away.

It depends how powerful your laptop is
Could you give the specs? RAM? Graphics card?
I don't know if you could use one CD key for two computers, it saves the CD key into the registry. You could copy the registry keys from the PC to the laptop, but you still probably can't play online due to Punkbuster checking the CD key.

There are cheats that are purchaseable (how low can you go). I see cheaters a lot and what's really sad is that get way less points than me, and I don't cheat. The prone thing where it looks like you die even before they fire is just because you don't live long enough to see them fire, if they fire at the exact same time you die you wouldn't see it.

Well I guess you just wait. If you open the spawn menu (map with kits on the left) you won't spawn while it's open. You can just wait. Otherwise go and run for cover instantly, because you're screwed out in the open. I've played the game so much that I know exactly when the last artillery will hit so I can time my moves accordingly...

In the next patch or the one that follows there will be a gamemode for infantry only, so no vehicles (but maybe still jeeps?). As of now all they can do is just tell people not to use vehicles. Find a server that you like, I always play 24/7 servers like 24/7 Karkand - Insomnia (number lol)

Bunnyhopping is a valid skill in the game, sure it's cheap, but you can do it in real life. I can anyway, as long as you're physically fit and drink plenty of coke/snort plenty of coke...lol...

Incidentally, speed/ecstacy pills will tend to make you very dancy. For about 46 hours. At a music festival called All Tommorow's Parties in pontins. That's all I'm going to say on the matter.

you can install on as many computers as you want
NO LIMIT
but you can only play on one at a time
and yes - laptops can easily be good enough
might have to turn everything down to lowest/off
and cut vis range to 75%

ref: cheaters - there are TONS of them - but as you are new
probably just not used to it yet
sit in armor for a while
and do not rush into the middle of big battles
you will be dead too often

and best way to get good???

purchaseable cheats??? ive never heard that befor but that is totally lame
good to know peoples hard earned cash is helping them cheat at a video game they bought.
wouldnt it easier just to take the disk out to a field and shoot a shot gun at the cd, walk up to the pieces and say "owned"

Thanks everyone - I'll install it on the laptop tomorrow so I ca play midweek. I don't mind that the gfx will be poor compared to my desktop (4400 X2 & 6800GT with everything max @ 1024x728). The laptop is a 1.7Ghz A64, gfx card is onboard, so might be a prob!

Can't (well can actually!) believe there are cheats, you'd think they would patch for them. There was one game where I was killed by the same guy with a M36E?? with 1 bullet each time!!!!!

I suppose the only way to avoid is to register clan.

Great game, but frustratingly hard! I sometimes have excellent games (80pts), but on average am getting around 20-30 which is massively better than 7/8 at the start!

I get mad sometimes with snipers - quite a number of times I have been killed by a sniper picking off spawn points. Don't mind as much when they are capturing a flag, but when they are just sitting there getting points....!

When there's artillery dropping hit enter or capslock to bring up the "select spawn point" screen, then just leave it there till the artillery's done. It won't force spawn you with that screen open.

Last night I ended up doing something I see many people complain about. I sat in a water tower and later a crane and sniped passers by... I stayed there for quite a while. My staying alone and not moving was in no hindrance to me team (we won most matches) and didn't interfere with anyone. I realized that this game is very versatile, and many people might complain about vehicles or complain about lack of vehicles, but the options should be there for people who want it. Make a game with no jets, no tanks, only pistols, only knives, no parachutes... whatever. The only thing that shouldn't be allowed is taking something from one or more kits without taking something from all kits.

3 - Stop bunnyhopping once and for all!

I agree it can get annoying, but it's not so bad. Jumping has saved my ass more than once, although I don't jump like a spaz repeatedly. From a shooters perspective though, sometimes it can help if you're at a range. When they jump they can't control their direction, so if you've got a powerful gun you can quickly see where they're going to land and shoot on it and take them out. At close range however it's an annoying tactic that is totally unrealistic. A good fix (not my idea, read it in another thread) is to not allow jumping when your fatigue is drained, much like how you can't run when your fatigue is drained.

As for cheaters... remember that you (and I too) are a new player. I get taken down very fast and usually with only a shot or two. But now that I've been playing for a while I've had moments where hardly any time passes at all between seeing somebody and dropping to the ground and taking them out. It's not common for me but I can see how somebody who has been playing for months or longer could do it quite easily.

I've been playing the BF series for 4 years now and in that time only once I suspected somebody of cheating in BFV. I have yet to suspect anybody in BF2, but than again I rarely play on ranked servers as I primarily play in competition on locked servers.

My son still plays on ranked servers a lot and regularly gets kicked regularly and has been banned from a few of his favourites simply for being to good.

There are some people who do cheat, but compare to other games, in BF the numbers truly are low.
If you check the names on the Master Ban List, you will see that over 80% of the players caught with cheats have very, very poor stats. Basicly, if anybody is cheating on a server it will be the the player at the bottom of the scoreboard, the one you will least suspect.
If somebody is really good, it's because they are, and they have nothing to gain from using cheats. You would do yourself a favour if you learned from really good players instead of dismissing them as using cheats.

Everyday I see players post here, players who have been playing for 6 months to a year, and the lack of knowledge they have of the game even after 400 hours plus of playing astounds, me. No wonder some of them think others are cheating.

There is a reason why I'm telling you this. I love the game, which is why I have been playing it for 4 years. Do not get yourself into the mindset that there are lots of players cheating.
If you do that, you're are not going to learn as fast as you should and your gaming experience will just become frustrating.
Enjoy the game. Even better, play on server with Battlerecorder enabled, so when you do see something amazing, you can review it and see how the other player did it and you'll see it really wasn't that amazing.

One last note. In regards to players killing you with one shoot. Everyday I play online always chatting with lots of my teammates on ventrilo. Sometimes it appears like one shot but actually it was a dozen shots. Sometimes it does appears people shoot you without looking at you, that is just internet lag.
My son and I play side by side on separate computers. To show you an example of how long the delay is. We're on the same server together facing each other. On my son's computer he will turn his character 180 degrees away from me. Only when he had finished his turn, does his character even begin his turn on my computer.
So depending on your ping connection and computer specs some players will see you and start shooting before you even see him coming around the corner and sometimes it will be you doing it. Some people see players coming around the corner shooting and start screamming hacks. Don't be one of them, just enjoy the game :)

This game also fires a lot of blanks. How many have seen AT go through vehicles? Lots. In preparation for matches my son and I will try out different positions with the tank. I'll have him stand at a flag and I will try to hit him for various angles and I can tell you 15-20% of the shoots from the tank are blanks. The tank appears to fire on my screen, but nothing actually comes out of it. So sometimes think you put 5 or 6 shoots into another tank, but actually you didn't. This also applies to assault weapons, which also fire a lot of blanks.
Another thing is the animation, sometimes on my screen it looks like my son just ran up to me a killed me with one shoot. On his screen he is just unloading on me.

It's no real wonder so many people think there are more hacks than there really is.
