I for one am glad that you cannot change your name. It's a lot easier to keep tabs on certain people that enjoy ruining public servers, asshats and cheaters. Besides what would all the people that get off on reporting abusive admins and "cheaters" do then? How would they report those people if their names were able to be change so easily?

Its easier to for server admins to keep a track of trouble makers if they have the same name, I'm not realy bothered about changing my name. I guess some people may want to change some of their though.

Why EA/Dice chose for players to each have 2 unique identifiers (PID and in-game name) is beyond me. It's inefficient.

I seriously hope they dont implement a change to the no name change rule. It forces players to think about how they're playing. If they knew they could act the fool, cause grief, disrupt other peoples games and then go change their names, they would. The way it is now forces people to be wary of their actions cause you know your name will be remembered.

What he means is that each name is tied to a specific PID. I'm stuck with a dead clan before my new "prefix" clan. People can do that now, make a new account, and play like a fool, griefer, etc.

Basically, you can change a name once that's tied to a specific PID, to get rid of clan tags, etc.

But, this has been discussed ad nauseam before, and there's a 99.99999% chance that it will not happen for BF2

Lose the smartass remark and understand that DICE/EA are at fault for this. Not the players. If they would have included the "prefix" feature when the game was first released, people wouldn't be posting about this here today. Unfortunately, its yet another ****-up thanks to DICE/EA because of poor coding and their horrible reliance on GameSpy. I too have heard how 2142 will allow you to edit your name. The only reason why they included it now is because their customer base set em' straight. Too bad Im not throwing a single penny at that garbage. :evil:
