Re: BFWhat?
With even my self confessed limited knowledge of coding i can make some assumptions.
1. A multiplayer game (64 player) with the level of detail and destructible environments of crysis would require sky high system requirements, thus, reducing their possible market to small minority.
2. who knows how powerful the demo computer for the video was? my guess that its pretty high end. (i couldnt see all the vid) but there was no mention of scaleability. Therefore, how much eye candy can the average joe expect? my guess a lot less than we were shown in the video
3. Its true that the same can be said of the BF2142 video but then please refer back to point 1.
4. Crysis does look really good but it's unfair to both titles to compare to BF2142. They are both trying to do different things. If crysis does end up being a really good 64 player game then i will eat humble pie before buying itComment

Re: BFWhat?
BF2142 has the same engine as the BF2 it is only modified. (it is almost a BF2 mod lol) so thats the reason it does not look revolutionary. Btw I dont like it either :p I like sci-fi but this is too much. There is absolutely no background for BF2142... how do I know how the guns act/look like in realty if ALL of them is fictitous. The only thing that will keep that game runnig is unlocks (buliding uber-soldier and powning noobs how buy the product 2 months later and has basic equipment...) so I wont buy it thats sure.

Re: BFWhat?
OMG!!! I've seen actual in game images from this game in PC Gamer magazines of people running through the jungle and at first glance i thought it was a photo!!! Then i read the commentary of the photo and realized it was from game play! So i looked closer and i couldnt see anything that even remotely proved it wasnt a photo besides the commentary under it saying something like "That's not a photo..." That got my attention, so i read the article and in adition to everything about the environment mentioned on the video, even the twigs break when stepped on, and leaves are displaced aswell!!! But i can only imagine what type of machine this game will require.Comment

Re: BFWhat?
I'll be sticking to 2142, Crysis will need Dx 10, a new card that will support Dx 10 and windows vista to run, I wont be getting any of those things for atleast a year or 2. I'm not gonna fork out my cash and buy something new untill I'm sure it runs good.
2142 on the other hand, well I run Bf2 no problem, so I wont have trouble with that game.Comment

Re: BFWhat?
I'd say lack of internet bandwidth and an extremely complicated netcode and server requirement would prohibit us from seeing those exact levels of physics and destructability online for a while yet.Originally posted by O2zi31. What I was trying to get at (which some people may not have got) was the wow factor of this video in comparison to the one from 2142. I guess it all depends on what flicks your buttons, but if I had to rate each game out of 10 on advancements over predecessors, I'd give Crysis a 9 and BF2142 something like a 2.
The funnier part is: No one cares overly what you have to say, smartass. Reality check, you're a god, but only in your own computer room.Originally posted by MrBenisThe funny part is: noone really cares whether you buy it or not.
There's one game that never got the praise and popularity it deserved.Originally posted by roger smithive got 2 words "operation flashpoint"Comment

Mr. Benis,
Two things, one, why are you being so negative, he is posting his opinion, you don't gotta harsh on it.
Second, BF2 HARDLY has real time bullet physics. I shoot in real life, and I can tell you right now two things, one, it would take 5 M16 shots to the chest to kill you, and second, a 5.56 mm bullet (M16A2, Ak-101, etc.) would take .8 seconds to go from the Essex to Airfield on Oman.
Not only that, but one M16 bullet in the right spot and a J10 or F18, and both are unusable. The M95 isn't inaccurate, and lastly, BULLETS DON'T CONE!!!!!!
Thank you,
and good night.Comment

Re: BFWhat?
Yes, most likely. However I guess I should contribute
2142 looks good, I may or may not buy it, depending on my money at the time, most likely I will, but like 5-6 months after it's release :cry:Comment
