Re: Community Update (6/16) - EXCLUSIVE

I think that everyone should be overjoyed with this new development...actually beta testing the patch before they go final with it. This is what we have been waiting for, INTERACTION with the developers themselves.

I suggest STRONGLY that everyone participate in this beta and give constructive feedback. This is our chance to make this game truly, the way it was meant to be played.

Any bitchers and moaners from here on out should be shot in the face imho. For once, even though it may be too late, DICE/EA is listening and getting the process right.

    I'm estatic.

And if this process goes well, it can mean NOTHING BUT GOOD for 2142.

I think if the game gets ironed out, it still has a lot of life left in it. It's hands down, even with bugs, the best modern day shooter out there, and I see it holding the attention of that crowd if it gets fixed even half way of it's current state.

Who are the people who make UT? UT was a purty good game too....theres 3 that I consider better.....
Those aren't publishers, those are developers.
Id's games are published by Activision (which has a perty bad track record for support)
Valve's games are published by VUG who was also responsible for trashing my favorite FPS franchise of all time (Tribes) with abysmal support for Tribes Vengeance.
UT is published by Atari who's meddlesome and authoritarian stance on publishing drove Bioware to stop making D&D games (Never Winter 2 is being outsourced) because Atari controls the lisence for all D&D PC titles.

My point isn't that EA is especially good (I have some personal bones to pick with 'em that run a bit deeper than the casual gamer's gripes), but rather that the whole industry is a friggen mess.

If you truely don't like what's going on and don't want to support poor publishing habbits, you have very few options other than to quit gaming altogether.

Oh I dont disagree with you I was just trying to win your challenge!!! LOL The only thing I disagree with......ID software...yes they are published by activision but we dont go to activision for support do we? No we look to ID. Also I think the quote out of ID about when patches will done has been and always will be "when its ready". Now dont get me wrong here I am not saying ID is perfect in anyway...they are better than most well it would seem in this case a heck of alot better than Dice. EA maybe a better publisher but as for bugs etc.....Dice just doesnt compare to the other developers.

I don't get why everyone is so happy lapping this stuff up... sure, it's nice that they're making a patch, but stuff like 'we've earned it' (The map) and 'They're listening now' is far-fetched... by this time on BF1942 they'd given us 4 or 5 free maps so nothing special there... and it's shockin that it's taken them this long to actually 'listen' to the community anyway...

Irrespective of that, some of the complaining is a lil over the top at times... I don't experience nearly as many CTDs as other people do.. guess that's just my superior machine :)

Try not take any offence, but I just don't believe you - and quite frankly, I find it it very foolish of you to say that.

              Here's why:

You currently own/pay for a server. That right there tells me that you're serious about videogames. It's not just a hobby, it's something you really enjoy. Boycotting one of the worlds largest videogame publisher/developer prevents you from playing a large number of upcoming games - not to mention Battlefield 3.

Why would you burn your bridges because you're having problems with BF2?

Here's a challenge: Name 3 game publishing companies that are better than EA.
Well, if I had to choose I would say

                  THQ
                  Ubisoft
                  Activision

Nintendo for consoles - only because they both publish & develop their own games which are almost always amazing.

Again, I have to point something out...

EA is notorious for setting deadlines that are carved in stone. "Thou shalt not extend release dates", is their first commandment. Since they control Dice's paychecks this is a very serious issue. It puts a hella lotta pressure on them to "just get it out". Not an enviroment that encourages the best work out of anyone.

With developers (like Id or Epic) who are heavy enough to walk away from any publisher and pick up another the next day, they get some room to manuver. With smaller developers, they don't have a choice. In Dice's case, EA owns 'em outright so they have NO room to move.

However, with all that said, this is the reason that I'm very interested in seeing this open beta thing happening. It's actual change coming from EA. As far as I know, they have never allowed an open beta. If they are willing to learn from the past and adapt to the consumer's demands, there might be some hope left for the industry yet.

Once again Wargimp I couldn't agree more!!! Not sure if the other publishers have had open beta testing...at least none that I know of!!

Because he'll have problems with every other game in the Franchise (Probably). Something tells me BF2142 ain't gonna be no sweet ride either. Nor BF3.

You like the game too much.

If I had a dime for every 'I'm quitting BF2 forever' post, I would be a rich man. Just spare us the antics already, it's getting old.
Take your high and mighty attitude and shove it up your ass. I pay good money for 4 ranked servers for a very large gaming community; I'm not some **** on who is bitching about a J10 here. I have invested more than you will ever know into this game and into my gaming community.

That's a huge and really foolish assumption.

Also, what about BF2 isn't sweet enough for you to spend your time on a forum dedicated to it's very existence?

The irony is killing me. Keep it coming.

                            Thanks for proving my point.

Our server fills back up as well but this is acceptable to you? You seem like you are content with this. My god man, you are a wet dream for EA. Keep throwing money at them for an inferior product.

Then if you are so discontent why do you continue to throw money at them and continue to pay for your servers? Makes no sence to me. I can go on and on and say I am not buying 2142 and I am going for quake wars.....the reality is....I will probably buy both and play both.
