Using a mounted MG got me thinking- if BF2 had an option for the support to be able to "mount" the machine gun on certan places, would crossing alleys and contronting chokepoints be more of a suicide? I guess not many appreciate the usefulness of a mounted machinegun. They are awesome tools, although poorly placed. What if a support player had a "deploy" option at low walls, sandbags, rocks or any other kind of lower cover? Its never going to be implemented, but me thinks that this will help support players to strive for gun use, rather than baseball.

Re: Mounting option for MGs
yeah except maybe give it to engineers sice they are so rarely played and give them ability to deploy sandbags. -
Re: Mounting option for MGs
Engineers dont have support guns . Im talking about support players and their machineguns. Deplying sandbags wouldnt be a bad idea, however, BF2 isnt much of a frontline battlefield.Originally posted by stephensolfoyeah except maybe give it to engineers sice they are so rarely played and give them ability to deploy sandbags.Comment

Re: Mounting option for MGs
this has worked well in many games, but its a) not very realistic, and b) not very fun for gameplay, not for the guys getting shot, but the guys that are stuck looking forward. instead of mounting your machinegun, any and every person weapon should get full laying accuracy when they have an object infront of them like a window.Comment

huhh... it is realistic... thats wy you have those thingys on the gun... 2 place them somewhere.... i don't know wy there NOT being used....Originally posted by roger smiththis has worked well in many games, but its a) not very realistic, and b) not very fun for gameplay, not for the guys getting shot, but the guys that are stuck looking forward. instead of mounting your machinegun, any and every person weapon should get full laying accuracy when they have an object infront of them like a window.Comment

Re: Mounting option for MGs
this is an option that Red Orchestra has (random ro advertisement. Btw, check out my ro clan). You HAVE to deploy the mg42 to shoot it, and the mg34 and dp28 are so horribly inaccurate that you can hardly aim unless you do deploy. However, on literally EVERYTHING you have the ability to deploy the mg.Comment

Anyways this idea seems pretty good. I would like that. But going prone is ALMOST as good.Comment

Re: Mounting option for MGs
You cant really compare the accuracy of a prone shooting to deployed (mounted) shooting. I agree that this would create a mayhem, crossing a street in Karkand without caution would pretty much be suicide. However, I would kinda like to feel that hazard.
As for penalty- deployment and undeployment takes 5-10 seconds, where you cant move nor do anything. Hmm, can you say knifebait? Sniperbait? Nadebait?Comment

Re: Mounting option for MGs
Its stupid that they dont make support deploy when prone to have really good accuracy. Sure they wont be able to move but thats the point of them anyway to lay down cover fire. This would also work to limit how far they can turn left to right when prone.Comment

Re: Mounting option for MGs
I agree. Mounted maching guns are great assets, but the placement makes them almost useless.
It'd be nice if Support troops could un-mount and re-mount the MG. There would need to be certain spots to mount the gun. For example, on Karkand by the train, if you could un-mount that MG and place it on any of the wall/barricades in that area, they would be more useful.Comment
