Actually, if you are going for realism, When you go prone you use the bipod that is attached at the front of the gun. Mounted you use a tripod. When the gun is on the tripod you cant just aim all aroundl;ike you can on the bibod. Yes the gun is much more accurate on a tripod but you adjust your fire with traverse and elevation wheels. The tripod is used more for suppressing fire than for anything else. You basically lay down grazing fire when using the tripod. Heck the gunner doesnt even carry the tripod.....you have aan assitant gunner that does that.

the machine guns dont need to be deployed if theyre so accurate already

i was hoping for more of a Day of Defeat type of machine gun...very deadly when deployed but utterly useless to use when standing, so it offers some good and some bad

its not realistic because people dont get locked to an axis, we can always turn around, thats why i think just giving prone accuracy to those standing over an object would be the answer. its not realistic because it makes you unnessesarily static. anyhow im not knocking the tried and true dod style deploy, it was great, but theres a better way imo. and "those things" are called a bipod and, i wasnt discounting that factor. i was saying that when you fire from a "deployed" weapon its not fixed to that position. ill break it down like this, in dod and cod and such, when you depoly a machinegun its as if you get out a rivet gun and fix it to that position, this is not how it works in real life.

Anyways this idea seems pretty good. I would like that. But going prone is ALMOST as good.
