Also I'd like to add: the L85 is a good training model for the SVD. Once you are decent with the L85, try switching the SVD.

While popular in clanmatches and infantry only servers, the SVD is rarely used on public servers

If you treat the SVD like you treat your single shot L85, then you should have even more sucsess as it does 45 damage per shot compared to 34.

i mostly use l85a1 on single shot. but after i got g36, i always use it, cos its more accurate, n has little deviation.

SVD is accurate, however unless you are very good at getting headshots then your much better using one of the unlocks.

I dont mind it, its just i seem to be getting owned alot by it recently; the amount of close range headshots people have been getting on me is really quite bloody annoying!

The benefit and the drawback of the L85 is the scope.

I regularly out snipe snipers (at long, but not super long) distance with it because I can toss myself a med pack. It is great for the longer rangers because the scope makes it easier to aim.

However, from the hip it is the worst of the three guns. Full auto sucks, it isn't all that power and you can't really pull it up for any close/mid-close range battles.

For a front line medic, it is the worst choice you can make. Don't get me wrong, for maps like Wake where you are going to be in more long range battles, it is the best, but for city maps where a lot of the encounters are close it is the worst.

The G36 is the most versatile. Not great at long distance because no scope, but it is very accurate. Up close, it is still a great shot from the hip, so you can battle up close. However, the stock guns are the most powerful and best from the hip, so close up battles you can own with them. I can't remember the last time I was in a CQC situation where I was beat by the L85 (unless I didn't see the guy).

I disagee.

If you are good with head shots, then stick with the unlocked sniper rifles. If you need more than 1 shot to kill then use the SVD like an L85 on single fire. This way you take advantage of its semi-auto capabilities.

Its very effective.

Even if you are good with headshots, the SVD is still far superior in all close range (for a sniper rifle) situations, which is all city maps.

I can easily kill two people with the SVD by the time I could kill one with a bolt action gun and then reload. So it is like 3 kills to every 2. On top of that, when you miss and hit a body shot, you have to reload with the bolt action and then try to hit a running target. With the SVD, it is okay if I miss a couple of times because I can just keep firing at them.

i once kept sniping a guy, hit once then he took cover, then jumped out again to repeat. i hit all 5 shots, wondered why he hasnt died. then he killed me with his l85a1 while i reloaded. then realised he was a medic......

when you use the L85A1

there are a few things you gotta know

1.it SUCKS in full auto

2.it's not very accurate when you don't use the scope

3.don't think you can take out a sniper or any PKMers,be one step ahead of

them,or take them by surprise

4.it's OK to use it in city maps, but don't try CQC with it(that's not what it was made for)

5.use the advantage of range against assault rifles/LMG, while using the

ability of healing yourself against any class, especially against

Snipers(because most of them are far away from any medic)


AND PRACTICE!!!

There are no weak guns in BF2, only people who don't know how to use them

3 hits per kill...just snipe with it...i go on killing sprees with it..but dont use it like a full auto..semi is the way to be :P

my opinion is basically that the L85 blows

close combat is pretty much the most important range to excel in in this game, and it's the worst medic gun in close range

I had a longer, more thorough reply, but somehow I got logged out while writing it, and it's gone to heaven of bits and bytes now.

I personally find the AK and the G36 much more efficient for the medic class.
But I've been kîlled way too many times by the L85 to say it is a weak weapon.
It is an absolute infantry killer in the right hands.

I love this gun. I'd prefer sniping, but the game usually dictactes what kit I choose. When I'm a medic, this is my gun. I wish I had unlocked it earlier than I did! I would have a lot more time on the medic kit then.
Yeah, single shot is the most effective, IMO. I like to stay back aways from the fighting, giving aid, and "sniping."
One of my favorite maps to use this on is Wake.b The best spot is the hill on the east (?) side of the southern part by the Airfield. You can lay low, and get some great killstreaks.
