Officers only flying? No thanks! I'm First Sergeant and I am honestly a kick ass pilot, and I have been one since I was a private, when you have mastered the DC choppers, you can easily master BF2 choppers, even though they are nothing alike.

It`s a game people *tap, tap, helloo?*
Anyone with arms and some sort of coordination can fly one of these "monsters", granted may take awhile, most will get it.
(you can teach a monkey to fly, It`s when the proverbial hits the fan, the Pilot comes unto his own.)
It has been said earlier. We were all beginners once, some of us, still learning.
But....... formal Quals for a kid who wants to just PLAY a GAME.....?

last time i pld bf2 i had a a pilot with the 2 bars rank and he was one of the worst ive ever seen, not lining up for tv missiles, ignoring choppers, flying too fast past a flag where i couldnt get any kills(we had the mi28 so u know we must have been going damn fast to not get any kills in that...), then would shoot all his rockets at one person and clip a tree and kill us.

so i flew next and game him 5 mins of the same stuff he did to me, then he starts saying "YOUR FLYING TOO fAST!!!" LOL
indeed i said, annoying isnt it, thats how you ****ing flew for me and i couldnt kill ****.

Agreed! Ok, I'm not 'kick ass' per se, but damn better than most of the people I've seen jump in the helo's and have been from a relatively low rank.

Anyways, its an online game. Without sounding harsh, get over it.

Learn to fly in DC and then come to BF2. Then you will know how to fly. Or fly IRL like me and a few others here...its honestly not that hard, try playing flight sim 2004

I didn't think I was "too good" to practice in SP before subjecting the free world to my "noobiness" in the air

My ISP was down for a week, I practiced in SP 2 hrs. a day for a week, & when my ISP was back up I practiced in servers for a couple of days w/ others (2-4 guys) that were also "getting the hang" of flying before forcing our teams to suffer from our lack of experience

ps. just got my avaitor vet last night, my last requirement for Major General

btw getting experience in SP goes a long way in helping you to not get MURDERED by ACE pilots LOL

I've sometimes played with the idea of a certification system kinda like the one used by America's Army (game, not IRL).

yep thought about that myself a few times, i think it would have been great if they had it when bf2 came out, but imo its to late to add it now

No feedback on my certification idea?

An example of a test to get Blackhawk certified could be to have to pick up some bots off a mountain side. The terrain would be tricky and you'd have to have good situational awareness in order to make a succesful pickup without wrecking on a tree.

APC certification could be to move from point A to point B through a hotzone with a full load of troops.

Certs could be tier based too, requiring you to become transport certified before moving onto attack chopper, or APCs before Tanks.

I'm really not sure about the whole idea tho. Prolly it would be required as a core feature for a future game that would be designed with this in mind.

It's a good idea.

Have a 5 different 'exams' that have to be passed in order to get your wings. Nothing too complex, just a serious of basic 101 tests that teach you how to fly the bloody thing.

Transport Certificate - evade AA while picking up bots
Attack Helicopter Certificate - evade AA while hitting moving targets
Attack Gunner Certificate - learn to use TV and gun properly
Fighter Jet Certificate - basic dogfighting skills and runway passes
Bomber Jet Certificate - basic bombing techniques

Something like that anyways...

actually, even if there was a certification test, how many would actually go for it? this is after all a game, and most peeps would go for stats n badges n medals, not certificates. in my view, the game shld let us see if the pilot or gunner has any of those medals. eg: if the player gets in a plane, other players can press tab to see if he has any aerial badges, ribbons or medals. this would make it easier dont u think?

what if, for example, i make a new account on a whim, or i join a clan and they require me to tag up? if they didn't want people to do so, they could have required each serial # to have a single, master account. since i can agree to that EULA as many times as i want, i have.


with that pointed out, imho, a certification system on the battlefield series would be a mistake.

now, after saying that, you guys in favor of it will probably stand a better chance of getting it. schizoid me, thinks everytime i say something i prefer or dislike, it always seems to go the opposite way. so... look on the brightside if there is one. :0)
